DRM Fusion

Toolkit

Secure Server-Side DRM Functionality

The SafeNet DRM Fusion Toolkit is fully compliant with the Open Mobile

Alliance (OMA) DRM specifications 1.0

and 2.0, and Microsoft Windows Media

DRM 10.1. The toolkit provides easy and flexible integration with any existing backend infrastructure or solution such as a Content Management System

(CMS), Content Deliver System (CDS) and Server Delivery Platform (SDP).

Overview

DRM Fusion Toolkit includes the core DRM operations as defined in OMA DRM and

Microsoft Windows Media DRM. In addition, the toolkit complements and extends these technologies by providing value-added DRM features that are independent of the underlying DRM technology and offer more functionality and flexibility. The toolkit can be deployed in any

Java environment and does not require a

J2EE application server.

Core DRM Operations

Content protection operations: On–the-fly or in-advance protection, which involves conversion of digital content to the required

DRM content format. For example, Forward

Lock, Combined Delivery, OMA DRM 1.0

DCF, OMA DRM 2.0 DCF and Microsoft

Windows Media DRM 10.1.

Rights management operations: Creation and maintenance of rights (permissions and constraints) that are used for license generation and rights management for protected content.

License generation operations: Processing license requests and license generation for

Microsoft Windows Media DRM 10.1 and

OMA DRM 1.0 and 2.0; license generation for

3GPP PSS streaming content and support for parent, child and group licenses.

License delivery operations: License delivery via ROAP protocol over HTTP and generation of triggers and ROAP PDUs, which can be delivered via the surrounding application's transport implementations.

Toolkit Architecture

DRM Managers: The DRM Managers provide the core DRM operations in conjunction with Microsoft Windows Media DRM and

OMA DRM technology implementations.

DRM Technology Implementations: The protection and license operations are exposed via a single interface for all the underlying DRM technologies implemented by the DRM Fusion Toolkit

DRM Monitoring and Logging: The Events and Monitoring Managers gather information about all DRM-related events and notify other relevant (external) systems

(for example, by using SNMP).

Open Mobile Alliance Standards

The DRM Fusion Toolkit is an open, standards-based toolkit implementing the

OMA DRM 1.0 and 2.0 standards including all mandatory and optional OMA DRM features, such as domains, for portability of rights objects and support for streaming.

Value-added DRM Features

The DRM Fusion Toolkit's value-added DRM features are server extensions of Microsoft

Windows Media DRM and OMA DRM, providing additional functionalities and enabling more flexibility. For example, the toolkit allows you to create and manage

DRM usage rights and constraints through the advanced rights templates management engine.

Future Proof with

High Security

The DRM Fusion Toolkit provides a future proof solution accommodating upcoming DRM industry standards such as OMA

Broadcast. The toolkit provides cryptography algorithms, digital signing, authentication, certificate management, secure licenses, and communication protocols to content and service providers.

Additionally included is an independent trust model implementation that also conforms to the CMLA trust model definition, providing certificate provisioning to service providers.

Customizable and Extensible

The DRM Fusion Toolkit is designed to be highly customizable. Its modular architecture allows new functionality to be added simply by creating a new plug-in component which can be integrated at deployment time, without changing any existing code. Different interfaces can be built to expose the toolkit functionality, without changing any underlying functional code.

Reduced Time to Market

Using the DRM Fusion Toolkit will enable companies to reduce time to market, lower development costs and support a wide range of business models, while introducing a compelling, secure and competitive solution.

Carrier Grade High Performance

The DRM Fusion Toolkit guarantees competitive performance advantages with features such as support for the protection of large volumes of content and license generation transactions with excellent response times.

Easy Integration

The DRM Fusion Toolkit's API covers an extensive range of DRM operations. A comprehensive set of documentation allows easy and efficient integration with an existing backend infrastructure or solution.

Documentation includes sample client code, interoperability testing tools, configuration and integration examples.

Platform-Independent Deployment

The DRM Fusion Toolkit is Java based, thus platform agnostic and compatible with major databases and operating systems. The deployment environment can easily be modified.

Supports Content Types,

Transmissions and Business Models

The DRM Fusion Toolkit supports any content type and format, ranging from games and other applications to audio and video as well as various transmission mechanisms to deliver content. Supported business models include a wide range of usage rights, subscription rights for content bundles, superdistribution, free preview and gifting.

Broadcast and Streaming Modules

The DRM Fusion Toolkit provides a complete

DRM solution for protection and download of static files. Additional modules are available to extend the toolkit in expanding your protection and distribution capabilities. DRM

Fusion Toolkit4TV module enables protection of broadcast content and services and DRM

Fusion Toolkit4Streaming is dedicated to streaming content protection. For additional information, please view our DRM Fusion
