There you get 2 problems for the midterm exam series and 2 extra problems. Therefore, you can pass the course by 4 midterm exams or by 1 ordinary exam having 4 problems. The grade of the course is determined by the midterm exam series or by the ordinary exam depending on which one of them gives the best grade.
