The company’s second Chicagoland Pick-­‐Up location opens tomorrow, December 4, in Deerfield at 677 Lake Cook Rd. (The first location opened in Palatine in early October.) With this new option, shoppers can order groceries online and schedule a quick grocery pick-­‐up on the way home from work, school or other neighborhood activities. Customers who live in the Deerfield area will be able to select the pick-­‐up option when placing their orders, choosing the one-­‐hour time slot that is best for them between 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. Sunday through Friday, and 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Saturday. For a limited time, pick-­‐up orders for next-­‐day or beyond will be offered free of charge (a value of $2.95). Same-­‐day service is available for orders placed before 10 a.m. with pick up after 4 p.m. A $2 premium will be charged for same-­‐day pick-­‐up service. “Our mission at Peapod is to save our customers time and money – and for many busy families, especially moms, who are always on the go, a quick stop at our pick-­‐up location on the way home is the most convenient option,” said Andrew Parkinson, Peapod president and general manager, who founded the company with his brother, Thomas, in 1989. My husband and I both commute to and from the city from the Deerfield train station. In many instances, it will work really well to swing by the new Pick-­‐Up location on the way home from work or our kids’ activities.” In addition to the Chicago pick-­‐up sites, the company is also piloting Peapod Pick-­‐Up in New England.
