Welcome Spring!
S
pring is here, but you wouldn’t know it yet in most
of the country. We were spoiled last year, but the
camping season is so close, I can feel it!
This is a great time to open up your RV and do a
thorough check. Is there evidence of mice, is there any
mildew on the canvas (if you have any), any wet spots
on the ceiling, or water anywhere inside? Don’t forget
to walk around the outside checking all caulking (especially on the roof), tires, windows, doors and awnings.
Check for rust and winter damage. Spend some time
now so that you won’t be disappointed your first trip out.
I have attended five RV shows so far this season and
met many RVers. What surprises me the most, among
the ones I talked to, is the fact that so many are, or are
soon to be, fulltime RVers. Some have quit their jobs
and sold their home, while others are retiring and hitting the road. What a wonderful experience, a new adventure every day! It’s not in the cards for me right now,
but maybe someday!
Have you ever thought of RVing in Morocco? I received a very interesting article that I wanted to share
with you. Some of you may remember the couple from
BC who took their RV across the Atlantic, and travelled
from Britain to Morocco. You don’t have to do that. You
can rent an RV in Morocco! Read all about it, beginning on page 30.
We have another very interesting article about converting miles per gallon to litres per 100 kilometres, and
vice versa. On page 12, read how two magic numbers
make it easy!
Barb Cormack, who contracted Lyme disease a couple
of years ago and had to stop RVing, has written an informative article about the Muskokas. As Barb is now
doing well, she is looking for a smaller RV to continue
her travels. Her article begins on page 26.
One thing I would like to stress is not to move firewood out of your area. I know many of you have lots of
firewood at home, and don’t want to purchase it when
you go camping. However, please put firewood in your
camping budget if you are travelling outside of your
area. One of our invasive species, the emerald ash borer,
has infested or killed tens of millions of ash trees, and it
continues to be found in new areas. For more information, please turn to page 42.
Enjoy the rest of your spring! I am off to another RV
show.
Be safe, be happy, and keep smiling!
