Introduction
SIU has partnered with SkillSoft for its online Web Based Training courses. Many of
these online courses are accredited for continuing education purposes.
SkillSoft’s accredited courses meet the highest quality standards for helping learners
build transferable skills. Improve a transcript and further your accreditation from
entities such as, the Project Management Institute (PMI®), the University of Phoenix,
HRCI, NASBA and more.

Continuing Professional
Education (CPE)

 SkillSoft provides CEU credits transferable to the
University of Phoenix, Drexel University, George Mason
University and the American Council on Education
(ACE).
 These institutions have evaluated hundreds of SkillSoft
courses and have verified their eligibility for credit
toward general education.
 SkillSoft is recognized by the National Association of
State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA’s) National
Registry of Continuing Professional Education (CPE)
Sponsors.
 SkillSoft offers CPE credits to CPAs intending to
maintain or develop their licenses.
 NASBA’s National Registry of CPE Sponsors program
recognizes sponsors who offer continuing professional
education in accord with nationally recognized
standards.
 Contact your state board where you hold your CPA
license to determine the CPE requirements for
you. Most states require continuing professional
education maintain active CPA licenses.

 SkillSoft is an approved provider of pre-approved
courses that align with the HRCI Body of Knowledge for
re-certification credit.
 HR professionals, through their host organizations
which subscribe to SkillSoft courses, have access to a
number of courses they can take and when completed,
can be submitted for re-certification Credit Hours
through HRCI.

 SkillSoft is a PMI Registered Education Provider (REP).
 SkillSoft is approved by PMI to offer project
management and other professional development
training for Professional Development Units (PDUs).
 SkillSoft offers Project Management Body of Knowledge
(PMBOK® Guide) aligned courses- pre-approved for
Contact Hour credits for individuals who are preparing
to apply for one of PMI®'s certification exams.
 PMI bases its Project Management Professional (PMP) ®
and Certified Associate Project Manager (CAPM) ®
certification exams on the various process groups
defined in the PMBOK® Guide. The current PMP® and
CAPM® certification exams are based upon PMI®'s
Fourth-Edition PMBOK® Guide.
 SkillSoft offers a full curriculum of courseware that is
aligned with the Fourth Edition and can be used by
learners to prepare for the PMP® and CAPM® exams.

Six Sigma

 Six Sigma is The American Society for Quality’s (ASQ)
systematic, rigorous and proven methodology focused
on improving the quality of processes within an
organization, and eliminating process defects.
 There are two types of Six Sigma certifications: the
Green Belt certification and the Black Belt Certification
 The Black Belt certification requires recertification. To
recertify, the ASQ certified professional must earn 18
recertification units (RUs) within the three-year
certification period or retake the exam. Recertification
guidelines permit the learners to obtain 9 of the 18
required RU's via eLearning and SkillSoft offers a range
of professional development courses that may be
eligible for RU credits.
 SkillSoft has courses that map to both the Green Belt
and Black Belt certification.

 BRN is a state governmental agency established by law
to protect the public by regulating the practice of
registered nurses.
 SkillSoft is an approved licensed Continuing Education
Provider in the State of California. Provider #
CEP13334
 BRN CEU Credit information is as follows:
1. One (1) CEU credit is received for every 60
minutes of Skillsoft content completed. CEU credit
for courses that are 2.5 hours or 3.5 hours in
duration would be 2.5 CEU's or 3.5 CEU's.
2. One (1) CEU (continuing education unit) is equal
to (1) continuing education contact hours.
3. Each contact hour is at least 50 minutes of
instruction in an organized learning experience.
4. Courses less than one hour (60 minutes) in
duration will not be approved
 APICS offers two certification programs, Certified in
Production and Inventory Management, and Certified
Supply Chain Professional.
 APICS CPIM and APICS CSCP designees must earn a
total of 75 professional development points within five
years of receiving their designation. APICS CFPIM
designees must earn a total of 100 professional
development points in the same 5-year time period.
 Skillsoft’s Business Skills and IT courseware libraries
include hundreds of courses that may be eligible for 3
professional development points for each course
completed
