Spring 2013
All UW campuses are invited to submit an update for the ByLine Campus Direct.
Wisconsin Covenant Confirmation Process
The confirmation process has begun and seniors who signed the Wisconsin Covenant pledge must submit documentation
demonstrating they fulfilled it, thus gaining access to four years of grant money to help pay for college. Senior Confirmation forms
have been mailed to students and can also be found at http://wisconsincovenant.wi.gov/ for downloading. The form consists of an
instruction sheet and three pages that must be thoroughly and accurately completed, including signatures of students, parents, and
high school designees.
A Record of Service form demonstrating the completion of at least 30 hours of service must accompany the Senior Confirmation
form. You will find the form on the Wisconsin Covenant website. Otherwise, students may submit written letters from the service
location contacts indicating the number of hours completed. If they served at multiple locations to gather their 30 hours, they will
need a letter from each site.
The FAFSA is part of the confirmation process and needs to be completed to help determine the amount of the Wisconsin Covenant
grant awards. Students can go to www.FAFSA.gov to complete the form. If they need assistance with the FAFSA, go to https://www.
greatlakescollegeaccess.org/web/CAASD/index.html to connect students with Great Lakes College Access resources.
UW-Eau Claire
Admissions
February 1 was our application deadline for freshmen, but we are still admitting freshmen on a space available basis. Students whose
decisions have been postponed will hear from us by March 15. UW-Eau Claire is still open for transfer students in all majors.
Financial aid and Enrollment Deposits
Admitted students should be working on financial aid and should send their $100 tuition deposit by May 1 if they have not already
sent it. Students will not receive orientation information until they submit an enrollment deposit. Orientation mailings will begin midMarch. If students are encountering financial difficulties, we do provide tuition deposit deferrals. You or they can contact our office for
a request form.
Housing
Housing is still available; the application is a two-step process. Students first submit their $75 deposit. They are then sent a username
and password that allows them to finish their housing preferences online.
UW-Green Bay
Admissions
We continue to accept incoming freshmen and transfer applications. We do not anticipate closing in the near future. Admission
decisions are being made within approximately one week of applications becoming complete. Students with questions are also
welcome to contact us at uwgb@uwgb.edu. They will also receive instructions for checking their application status online.
UW-Green Bay does not require a deposit for admission/enrollment purposes. A housing deposit is required.
Housing
Students should be encouraged to apply for housing immediately after being admitted to UW-Green Bay. There is a link to the
housing application on the admitted students’ website: http://admitted.uwgb.edu. Students should apply for housing even if they are
unsure that they will attend UW-Green Bay, or unsure whether they will live on campus. Students can contract for housing, pay their
deposit, and still request a refund of the deposit until May 1. Lately we have been able to accommodate all new freshmen who wanted
to live on campus; still, early application is strongly encouraged.
Preview Days
Spring Campus Preview Days are scheduled for Friday, March 29, and Friday, April 19. Students can sign up for Preview Days at http://

Applications and Documents
We are glad to report that the Office of Admissions and Recruitment received a record-breaking number of applications! More than
29,600 freshmen, and 4,300 transfer students, applied for fall 2013. From September 2012 to February 2013, over 170,000 admissions
documents were delivered to our office. This includes transcripts, course descriptions, credentials from international students, and of
that total, 62,000 were letters of recommendation! The volume of required application materials we received is impressive. We would
like to thank teachers, guidance counselors, and college advisors for using our electronic recommendation form for submitting letters
of recommendation to improve processing time.

UW-Milwaukee
Financial Aid
The Department of Admissions and Recruitment would like to remind counselors and students of the March 1 Financial Aid priority
filing deadline. Students should first apply for a PIN at www.pin.ed.gov and then submit their FAFSA at www.fafsa.ed.gov. After the
financial aid profile is complete, awards are posted on the student’s PAWS account at http://paws.uwm.edu. The Office of Financial
Aid will begin determining awards in March and on a weekly basis thereafter. Three to eight weeks is a typical review time frame for
these financial aid files. Students should monitor their PAWS accounts to see if there are any “to do” items that need their attention.
Housing
Housing contracts to admitted students have been released to students online since December 2012, and will continue to be
released to new admits weekly through email notification. At that time, students are encouraged to sign up for a Living Learning
Community (LLC) which allows students the opportunity to live near students with like interests or majors, take a class together and
participate in events related to the LLC. Students have until April 30 (or as indicated in their letter) to complete the contract.
UWM requires first-time, full-time freshmen to live in University Housing. However some exemptions to this rule can apply. For
more information about Housing exemptions, deadlines or LLCs, please go to UniversityHousing.uwm.edu.
