PH 202: Calculus-Based Physics II Fall 2011 (Gapud)
Description of WILEYPLUS:
This is the same online homework system used for PH 201 during Spring 2011. So far, it has enhanced the homework learning
experience and proven quite successful here at USA and at other colleges.
IMPORTANT: You must register into the online class section for PH 202:
1) Go to this URL: http://edugen.wileyplus.com/edugen/class/cls232610.
When you get there, you should see something like this at the top of the page:
2) If you are new to Wileyplus, click on "Create Account" and follow the instructions. You will need the Access Code which
comes with your new textbook; otherwise use the link for purchasing a Code.
If you have already used Wileyplus in a previous physics course, and your Access Code is less than a year old, then you still
have a Wileyplus Account; use the login box and log in, using the same credentials as before.
3) When properly logged in, you should see this on the home page:
Hello [your name] , you are logged into:
UNIVERSITY PHYSICS-CALCULUS (PH201-202)
PH202 Fall 2011 Gapud
Instructor(s): ALBERT GAPUD
You’re in! From now on, you just need to log in on the wileyplus.com home page.
Doing Homework Problems:
• Under “Assignments” you will find listed our first HW set. More sets will be added as we progress through the semester.
“Gradebook” records your HW scores through the semester.
• If you are new to Wileyplus, learn how to enter answers for different types of problems by completing the Assignment,
“Assignment Zero – An Introduction to WileyPLUS”. This Assignment is required but is not graded. It will also be available the
whole semester for your reference.
• Clicking on an Assignment first opens up a description of Assignment Policies, Question Policies, and other important information.
Please read. For now, these same policies will be default for all future HW.
• Suggested procedure for each problem: Work it all out on paper first, to obtain a final solution/answer, then enter it online. Do
not exhaust all your attempts before exhausting your resources: consult WileyPLUS links, the textbook, classmates, tutors, and/or
your Instructor.
• After submission, the problems will remain available all semester, for practice and review.
WileyPLUS “Read, Study & Practice”:
When you click on this, you get what looks like just the list of chapters in your textbook. But if you click on any chapter, it opens up a
list of resources designed to enhance your understanding of the topics in that chapter. These resources have proven very helpful to
students so far, so you should use them regularly. These include:
•
•
•
•
•
•
•
an e-book of our text (“Reading content”). Instead of carrying a book, carry your laptop PC and log in, using the ILB public
wireless network!
sample problems: The more practice you can get, the better!
Student Solutions Manual, with worked out solutions to selected problems in your book – which might even include assigned
problems!
Math Help videos = mini-lectures which review the Math tools that you need for that chapter!
Interactive Learningware lets you play with simulations of various topics in that chapter
Flying Circus: Related physics of everyday stuff, which you did not know about – until now!
Office Hours videos are not videos of Dr. G in his office: They are very useful mini-lectures, by the authors themselves, giving
useful explanations of topics in the chapter.
