RESPONSE POEM, PART 1 OF THE POETRY UNIT FINAL
Choose from one of the following poems:
-“Passionate Shepherd” “Nymph’s Reply” “The Flea” “Death” “Body and Soul” “Thy Work”
 A response poem must either equate the amount of lines in the original poem or have at least 14 lines.
 A response poem must either
-Respond directly to the poem (reacting to the information presented in the original)
-Use the style of the poem a dialogue, a poetic letter (carpe diem), a mocking reply, or a stance
against something in order to create your poem on a different but meaningful topic
 The response poem does not have to follow the rhyme meter.
Rubric: The poem must respond to one of the poems; the poem must have use of figurative language that is used in a
fresh and new way; the poem must show a carefulness with diction; the poem must reflect a tone that changes at a
critical moment; and overall, the poem must show an attention to detail.

