In order to ensure that all products are of top quality and a fast and efficient service can be maintained all development and manufacturing takes place in our factory which is located in Leeds, UK. The staff at MMS are dedicated to the task of providing excellent products and backup and many have years of experience in the industry. Our product range includes a full range of profile stitching equipment together with a department devoted to the fast turnaround of templates. We also have much expertise in the necktie industry with sales and service of all relevant equipment. Alongside these products we can supply and service AMF Reece button hole and hand stitching machines and parts. For hand stitching we have a department dedicated to the supply of waxed silk and synthetic thread for use on machines or for hand sewing. Since the company was formed we have specialised in button attachment and security. We are therefore able to offer a solution to virtually any button issue and we can assist in ensuring that reliable and efficient button attachment can be achieved without the need for unreliable and slow hand sewing. In conjunction with our button securing partners we are able to offer the ultimate solution to prevent button loss and our high speed wrapping and heat fusing machines are the ultimate solution Our partner in button security MMS UK South View Business Centre, Ghyll Royd, Guiseley, Leeds UK Tel: +44 (0) 1943 884334 Fax: +44 (0) 1943 884335 www.mmswebsite.com E-mail: sales@mmswebsite.com button attachment methods The different methods of button attachment include hand sewing, lockstitch and chainstitch. Handstitching has obvious disadvantages such as inconsistency and being a slow, expensive and skilled operation. The common methods of attaching buttons is with a button sewing machine and the options are either lockstitch or chainstitch. Whilst on the face of it lockstitch seems to be the most appropriate choice in terms of button security it is often not the correct choice. The table below shows some of the relevant points to consider when making the choice between the two systems. Lockstitch Chainstitch Long shanks are not possible. Max. Shank length = 2.5mm (fabric thickness dependant) Long shanks possible Max. Shank length = 10mm (fabric thickness dependant) This length is enough for wrapping on a garment that only requires a short shank (shirt, blouse, trouser etc.) but it is not possible to use a lockstitch machine if a longer shank is required as the machine will slip stitches. This limitation also means that attaching shank buttons is impossible with lockstitch. All garment types and buttons possible including long coat shanks and shank buttons. The nest of thread behind fabric is bulky and unsightly due to the extra locking thread and four thread end tails. Cleaner nest behind fabric as no locking thread and only two thread end tails Bobbin will run out of thread on a regular basis. If this happens buttons will still be sewn on but not secured with the locking thread - they will fall off. When the bobbin runs out the operator should check the previously attached few buttons. No bobbin to worry about. Bobbin changes take time therefore reducing output. Button / backing button combination not possible due to longer shank requirement. No bobbin changes therefore continuous output. Blindstitch operation not viable due to longer shank requirement and messy shank due to four tails. Blindstitch possible. Longer shank possibility allows for button / backing button combination. button shank wrapping machines MK 11—fully automatic MK 6 semi automatic Small and very portable machine ideally suited to button security in sample rooms or for low volume production Fully automatic computer controlled machine that accurately applies the TF heat sealable thread to any type of button shank. Security showstitch TF wrapping Simple and precise loading of jacket fabric BAT 20 Button attaching and wrapping machine chainstitch or lockstitch Revolutionary combined system - chainstitch or lockstitch button attachment with normal sewing thread + wrapping with elastomeric heat sealable thread - one fully automatic cycle which drastically reduces handling time and any operator errors. Extremely economical use of wrapping thread - up to 6,000 buttons / 20 gram cone. Automatic heat sealing included in the cycle. Showstitch option to give the high quality ‘tailored’ look (BAT 20 CJS) . Instant and precise shank height adjustment. 3 easily selectable options—button attach, button wrap or attach and wrap. Any stitch pattern available at the touch of a button. Fully electronic machine—quiet and fast. High speed - 3.5 second cycle time giving a production capacity of up to 750 buttons per hour. Automatic button loader - during the sewing/wrapping cycle the operator places the button in the loader to enable fast and precise button transfer to the jaws without any wasted handling time. Incorporates the latest Juki electronic chainstitch or lockstitch button sewing machine or Durkopp electronic lockstitch. The process Normally a button is attached using a chainstitch or lockstitch machine and then shank wrapping is carried out on a separate machine which involves two handling operations. Using the BAT 20 these two process’s are combined into one high speed operation which, since it is all automatically controlled, leaves nothing to operator error and ensures that each button is perfectly attached and wrapped. Button attachment on jacket fronts can be achieved using a regular button attaching machine however the nest of stitches behind the fabric is visible and ugly. Using the BAT 20 CJS these buttons can be attached ‘cleanly’ with just one ‘show stitch’ on view behind the fabric. This security show stitch is one feature that clearly indicates the quality of the attachment. Result : visible button attachment quality which is protected against button loss for the lifetime of the garment. Technology The BAT 20 is based upon either Juki or Durkopp electronic button sewing machines. These machines are seamlessly integrated into the BAT 20 system meaning that the total running cycle is electronically controlled and monitored. Via a touch screen display the operator is easily able to select various options such as the number of wraps, button loader on or off, sewing only, wrapping only, sewing and wrapping together. A full system check is also available via the touch screen. All BAT machines are equipped with the patented button holding clamp which is able to securely hold buttons from 8mm diameter up to 50mm diameter without the need to reposition the clamp in relation to the needle Other products and services available from MMS Profile stitching machines The fastest and most accurate method stitching many types of component is to use an automatic template machine. Once the template is produced to the stitch line pattern the operation is simple and unskilled. Fabric is inserted into the template and the machine drives this at the same time as stitching and trimming the fabric. A full range of machines are available ranging from a basic manual version to a fully automatic machine capable of handling jacket fronts. Templates Templates can be manufactured from e-mailed stitch line patterns within hours in our high tech facility.
