Speeches of Mitcham House Captain and Vice Captain “As you all know, it is my last year at Lonesome and I thought I’d give it a shot to become House Captain of Mitcham House. As I am a Year 6 child, I think I am responsible and experienced in sports and other things. Personally, I believe that I am one of the most inspiring and courageous people in Mitcham House. I believe I am good in a crisis – I stay cool and calm.” Marshall (House Captain – Mitcham House) “Thank you all for coming on this very day to listen to this speech I’ve produced. This speech is about why I want to be House Captain. OK, who here wants a fun and loyal house captain? Well, I’m the person you’re looking for! Even though I can be quite silly at times, I do have the ability to keep calm and cool in difficult situations but I think with this experience, my behaviour will improve. I promise that everyone gets a chance to contribute in the activities during the time I am House Captain. If at the time I am handing out awards I will not, repeat not, just give them to students who are my friends. I’m not one of those students who are not fair to other students. So that is why I want to be Mitcham’s House Captain. Thank you one and all for listening.” Abenizer (Vice Captain – Mitcham House) Speeches of Morden House Captain and Vice Captain “Hello. As you may know, my name is Thushani and I am in Elm Class. To let you know a bit about me – I am a dedicated and responsible person. I am here to stand for Morden House Captain. After hearing my speech, you will be confident to win all the trophies, if you vote for me. Most points will be given for behaviour. I will make sure behaviour is superb around the school by: knowing you will respect one another even if you are foes by being loyal friends by keeping calm by being polite to each other If you can successfully achieve that then this is what I will do – be a spectacular listener. I will listen to both sides of an argument and make sure it is dealt with fairly. Furthermore, if there is a situation where nothing can be done, leave it to me. Don’t forget, I certainly will be giving great advice. If we can do all of this, then we can succeed. Vote for me and in no time, you will find yourself a winner. Thank you for listening to my speech. I hope you will vote for me.” Thushani (House Captain – Morden House) “My name is Zoe and I am presenting this speech to show how capable I am. OK, let’s start. I have great leadership and as I am a reading leader, I know how to be dedicated to a job and to be patient with other children. I know how to be a team leader. I will include every team member and you will not feel one bit excluded. I will listen to everyone’s point of view and set a good role model. I will respect everyone for whatever talent they have. I can lead the team by example to gain points I will really motivate the team and I will make sure they are focussed. Even if we lose, I will motivate them more positively. I will listen to any suggestions, I will be reliable for the team and their behaviour. My ain as House Captain is to build the team’s confidence by encouraging them. Morden will be very glad to have such a caring, supportive, clear voiced House Captain. Please vote Zoe.” Zoe (Vice Captain – Morden House) Speeches of Colliers Wood House Captain and Vice Captain “Most of you already know me as I have been at this school for 7 years or so. Throughout my time at Lonesome, I’ve stood out from other children for a number of different reasons but even so teachers and parents have recognised and commented on my good character and behaviour. I think that I should be elected because: I set a good example to others around me. I would serve as a good role model to younger children of acceptable behaviour. I am a born leader, so I know how to be tough but at the same time, I am kind and considerate to others especially those who are not confident or have little self belief. I am also a fair person who hates injustice so I would try my very best to work with children and school leaders to make Lonesome a better school that children can be proud to say they attend. I know that I am the right person for this job so do the right thing and vote for me. You won’t be disappointed.” Daniel (House Captain – Colliers Wood House) “Hello, my name is Owen and In Year 5 – Cedar Class. thank you for this opportunity to be House Captain. I do not often get opportunities like this but when I do I believe, achieve and succeed! I never give up and will encourage us to do things you never thought you could. I will also encourage good behaviour and improve bad behaviour around the school. I will listen to other people’s opinions and support them in whatever they feel they would like to do. I have represented the school in a number of sports competitions including football, handball, athletics and am now training for the hockey competition. I also play for a football team outside of school. I always attend training and matches, I believe this shows good discipline and respect. I feel that discipline and respect are an important part of sports but they are just as important in school and at home. Please nominate me and I will lead our team to success. I hope you enjoyed my speech. Thank you for listening. Owen (Vice Captain – Colliers Wood House) Speeches of Wimbledon House Captain and Vice Captain “Good afternoon boys and girls. I am Sarah and I hope to be your new House Captain. Being a reading leader in the school has developed some leadership skills in me. For example, encouraging pupils, praising them and teaching them to never give up. When I’m reading with my partner, it helps my communication and listening skills with them. I want to use these skills to lead our house on the right path. Since I am a student at this school like you, I am sure to help with any problems you have by coming alongside you and finding a fair solution. My aim is to bring the best out in every one of you to get those vital house points. I believe that together as a house, we can achieve and succeed in winning the trophy and beyond. Thank you for listening to my speech." Sarah (House Captain – Wimbledon House) “I should be House Captain of Wimbledon House because I am a good role model for behaviour and learning. I may not always be able to motivate others, but I will try. I am also reliable and a great listener. One of the roles is to encourage good behaviour. I am probably suitable for this.” Oliver (Vice Captain – Wimbledon House)
