USING THE STUDY PLAN FOR PERSONAL GAIN
The Study Plan for the Skill Assessment Modules (SAMs)
has been developed for you, the adult student. The plan
helps you learn the skills that are in the TABE ™ (Tests
of Adult Basic Education). Whatever your level—L, E, M,
D, or A—the Study Plan can help you move up to the next
level of the TABE.
The Study Plan includes the subjects (Reading, Math
Computation, Applied Math, Language, and Spelling) and
the skills you need to know. The plan also has a list of books
and exercises to help you learn. Your teacher will give you
work to do for each skill. He/she will assign the work by
writing the date in the column marked Date Assigned.
Then after you finish the assignment, your teacher will
write that date in the column marked Date Completed.
Once you complete the assignments, your teacher will
check your understanding of the skills by giving the
mastery test. If you answer most of the test questions
correctly, your teacher can move you on to new skills. If
not, your teacher may give you more assignments. The
Study Plan will reflect your progress, skill by skill, in
each subject.
Personal Learning Goals
What are your personal learning goals, and how can you
make them happen? Use the space below to write down
your ideas. As you progress through the Study Plan, look
back at what you wrote. Your goals can guide your success
in the classroom, at work, and at home. Good luck!
