v1
Behold, there shall be
a record
DOCTRINE AND COVENANTS 1
v1
Hearken,
is about to come forth
kept
[Omission]
among the children of men.
among you;
O ye people of my church,
v2 Behold, I am God:
a give heed to my word,
b which is quick and powerful,
c sharper than a two-edged
sword,
c to the dividing asunder
b of both joints and marrow;
a therefore give heed unto my word.
v3 Behold, the field is white
and in it thou shalt be called
a seer,
a translator,
a prophet,
an apostle
of Jesus Christ,
an elder of the church
a saith the voice
b of him who dwells on high,
b and whose eyes are upon all
men;
a yea, verily I say:
a Hearken
d ye people from afar;
d and ye that are upon
the islands of the sea,
a listen together.
v2 For verily the voice of the Lord is
unto all men,
already to harvest;
and there is none to escape;
•
therefore, whoso desireth to reap
•
let him thrust in his sickle with
his might,
and reap while the day lasts,
• and there is no eye that shall not
see,
• neither ear that shall not hear,
•
• neither heart that shall not be
penetrated.
that he
v3 And the rebellious
may treasure up for his soul
shall be pierced with much sorrow;
everlasting salvation in the
kingdom of God.
a for their iniquities
b shall be spoken upon the
housetops,
a and their secret acts
b shall be revealed.
v4 Yea, whosoever will thrust in his
sickle
v4 And the voice of warning
and reap,
shall be unto all people,
the same
by the mouths of my disciples,
is called of God.
• through the will of God the
Father,
• and the grace of your Lord Jesus
Christ,
a whom I have chosen
b in these last days.
b v5 And they shall go forth
a and none shall stay them,

DOCTRINE AND COVENANTS 11
a v5 Therefore, if you will ask of
me
b you shall receive;
a if you will knock
b it shall be opened unto you.
v6 Now as you have asked
asked,
behold, I say
unto you,
DOCTRINE AND COVENANTS 11
v2 Being inspired
of the Holy Ghost
to lay the foundation thereof,
keep my commandments,
and seek
to bring forth
and establish the cause of Zion
Zion.
v7 Seek not for riches
DOCTRINE AND COVENANTS 11
for I the Lord have commanded
them.
v6 Behold, this is mine authority
authority,
and the authority
of my servants,
and my preface unto the book of my
commandments,
and to build it up
which I have given them
to publish
unto you, O inhabitants of the earth.
unto the most holy faith
v7 Wherefore, fear and tremble, O
ye people,
but for wisdom;
for what I the Lord have decreed in
them
and, behold, the mysteries of God
shall be unfolded unto you,
shall be fulfilled.
and then shall you be made rich.
v8 And verily I say unto you, that
• they who go forth,
• bearing these tidings unto the
inhabitants of the earth,
Behold, he that hath eternal life
to them is power given to seal both
on earth and in heaven,
is rich.
the unbelieving and rebellious;
v8 Verily, verily, I say unto you,
v9 Yea, verily, to seal them up unto
the day when the wrath of God shall
be poured out upon the wicked
without measure--
•
even as you desire of me so it
shall be done unto you;
•
and, if you desire, you shall be
the means of doing much good
• v10 Unto the day when the Lord
shall come to recompense unto
every man according to his work,
• and measure to every man
according to the measure which
he has measured
in this generation.
v9 Say nothing but repentance
unto this generation.
to his fellow man.
v3 Which church
was organized and established in the
year of your Lord eighteen hundred
and thirty, in the fourth month, and
on the sixth day of the month which
is called April.
