IS YOUR PRIMARY SITE ON OUR TAILORED INFRASTRUCTURE SERVICE OR
WILL YOUR DISASTER RECOVERY SITE BE ON OUR TAILORED INFRASTRUCTURE SERVICE?
If so, before you add a Hybrid Disaster Recovery subscription to your virtual server (dedicated) service on tailored infrastructure, there
are a few steps we need you to follow.
STEP 1: EMAIL US THE DETAILS BELOW
We need to ensure your virtual server (dedicated) service on tailored infrastructure has the required communication with the disaster
recovery management environment, VMware® vCenter Server™ and ESXi hosts. To do this, you’ll need to email us the details outlined
below.
STEP 2: RESPOND TO OUR QUOTE
Once we receive from you the details outlined below, we’ll assess your set-up and send you a pre-configuration quote within three business
days. You’ll need to approve this quote before we can go ahead with the work. The quoted fee will depend on the way your tailored
infrastructure service is currently set up and is in addition to the set-up fee for the Hybrid Disaster Recovery service.
STEP 3: TEST CONNECTIVITY
We’ll email you once your service is pre-configured. To ensure your connection, you’ll need to test the network connections from your
primary and disaster recovery sites to the Hybrid Disaster Recovery endpoints (see the row in the firewalls table below). You can use a
network test tool such as Telnet or PortQry to achieve this. If a connection isn’t working, contact us.
STEP 4: ACTIVATE YOUR SERVICE
If your connectivity tests are successful, you can log back in to the Cloud Services management console to activate your Hybrid Disaster
Recovery subscription, start installing the software on your relevant servers, and start configuring your new disaster recovery service.
Note: If you plan to use your own vCenter Server service on your infrastructure (i.e. not via our virtual server (dedicated) service), you’ll
need to set your own vCenter Server permissions. You’ll find more details in our Hybrid Disaster Recovery User Guide (you need a
login to the Cloud Services management console to view this).
WHAT IS TAILORED INFRASTRUCTURE?
Our ‘tailored infrastructure’ services are not the same as our ‘cloud infrastructure’ services. Available in Sydney and Melbourne, tailored
infrastructure includes compute and storage with the choice of physical or virtual servers managed by us or you. This service is no longer
available for purchase – we would have deployed your tailored infrastructure environment according to a customer solution design
document.

TIPS ON PRIVATE NETWORK RANGES
The range of your private network will depend on the number of servers at your primary site. If you only supply one address in
each range now, you’ll need to supply further ranges for any additional subscription applications you make to the Hybrid
Disaster Recovery service.
Virtual server and storage resource requirements can be found in the Hybrid Disaster Recovery User Guide (Cloud
Services management console login required), or visit this page for more details on the features, benefits and scenarios for
Hybrid Disaster Recovery.
If your primary site is on your premises, it’s your responsibility to test and manage the connectivity to and from this site.
CHANGES TO YOUR FIREWALLS
