Section: Community Accident Prevention Subject Overview Sections to which Subject is suitable Community Aim To make Cadets more aware that they can contribute to their own safety in their immediate environment. Objectives By the end of this course, Cadets will be aware of: The variety of accidents that occur and be able to identify some of their causes The hazards found within the home environment Dangers on the road Water safety rules and how to act in the event of an emergency Hazards caused by seasonal change Hazards related to children The emergency services available and how to contact them. Levels This Subject can be run at three levels concurrently (according to age/ability) with different activities for each level. Cadets could always be asked to evaluate a particular resource or to design one themselves, aimed at younger children eg for their Badgers, and compare this with what is available. Throughout the course Cadets should be encouraged to relate their own experiences and any accidents highlighted in television programmes eg soaps, could be discussed. Different organisations can be introduced as their literature is used.
