INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE PAPER-SETTER
(i) The question paper will consist of five sections:A,B,C,D and E.Section
A,B,C,D will have two questions covering the entire syllabus carrying 15
marks for each question.Section E will consist of 10 short answer type
questions
which will cover the entire syllabus uniformly and will carry 20 marks in
all.
(ii)
While sending the syllabus to paper setter the syllabus prescribed for
practical paper should also be sent.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE CANDIDATES
Candidates are required to attempt one question from the section A,B,C,and D
and the entire section E is compulsory.
SECTION-A
1. Knowledge of the following gayan shallies:Dhrupad,Dhamar,Khyal ,Tarana,Tappa ,Thumri
2. Changing Trends of Music in the present scenario
SECTION-B
1. Biographical sketches and contribution towards Indian music of the
following musician:(i)
Sh.Sohan Singh
(ii)
Pt.Bhimsen Joshi
(iii)
Pt.Onkar Nath Thakur
2. Development and importance of Indian notation system of music,
its merits and demerits.
SECTION –C
1. Write a brief account of Tanti instruments used in Gurmat Sangeet.
2. Contribution of Rababi Parampara in the field of Gurmat Sangeet.
SECTION –D
1. Detailed description and notation of the following Ragas and Talas with
their notation
Ragas(i) Darbari Kanra (ii) Miyan ki Malhar (iii) Malkauns (iv) Jounpuri
(v) Jaijaiwanti
Talas: (i) Deepchandi (ii) Dhamar (iii) Ada chautal (iv) Jhaptal (iv) Sooltal
2. Elementary knowledge of the prescribed Ragas of B.A.II year.Bhairav,kedar.Bhimplasi,Brindavani sarang

INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE PAPER-SETTER /PRACTICAL EXAMINAR
(i)
There should not be more then 8 students in a batch for practical
examination
(ii)
Harmonium may also be allowed as accompaniment in Music (Vocal).
1. One Drut Khyal in each of the following ragas with alaps and Tanas :Darbari Kanra ,Miyan ki Malhar ,Malkauns, Jounpuri, Jaijaiwanti –20 marks
2. One Vilambit Khyal in any of the raga of the prescribed course with
alaps and Tanas –
20 marks
3. Ability to sing any Geet / Sufi Kalam with playing Harmonium5 marks
4. One Tarana with proper style in any of the ragas prescribed in the
syllabus 10marks
5. Ability to play Dhamar and Sooltal on Tabla.Demonstration by hand the
following taals with Dugun and Chaugun Deepchandi ,Ada chautal
,Jhaptal 10marks
6. One Dhamar in any of the prescribed ragas of your course with ekgun
and dugun layakaries. 10marks
7 Tuning of Tanpura 5marks
