ARMY TESTING BRANCH
Army Personnel Testing: The
following military examinations are
provided through the Testing Branch:
The Defense Language Proficiency
Test (DLPT), Defense Language
Aptitude Battery (DLAB), Oral
Proficiency Interview (OPI), Selection
Instrument for Flight Training (SIFT),
Armed Forces Classification Test
(AFCT), Armed Services Vocational
Aptitude Battery (ASVAB). Soldiers
are required to call in advance to
schedule a test date. For a copy of
our monthly testing schedule and to
schedule an exam call 644-4390.
GI BILL
Montgomery GI Bill (MGIB): To be
eligible for MGIB, individuals must
have entered active duty after June
30, 1985 and elected to have their
military pay reduced by $100 for the
first 12 months of active duty. Soldier
must be on active duty for 24 months
before utilizing their benefits. Visit
http://www.va.gov for the latest
information on the MGIB.
The Post 9/11 GI Bill: Provides
financial support for education and
housing to individuals with at least 90
days of aggregate service on or after
September 11, 2001, or individuals
discharged with a service-connected
disability after 30 days. You must
have received an honorable
discharge to be eligible for the Post9/11 GI Bill. For more info, visit

Tuition Assistance TOP-UP: VA will
pay the difference between the total
cost of the college course and the
amount of Tuition Assistance that is
paid by the military. This does not
Include the cost of books. To be
eligible for Top-Up benefits, one must
be authorized to receive Federal
Tuition Assistance from the Military
“GoArmyEd.com” and they must be
eligible for MGIB-Active Duty benefits
or Post 9/11 GIB.

Torii Station has two undergraduate
institutions, The University of
Maryland University College (UMUC)
and Central Texas College (CTC).
UMUC offers Certificates, Associates,
and Bachelor Degrees. CTC offers
Associate Degrees. To attain more

ACES VISION
Individualized Assessment: The
assessment is an unofficial evaluation of
previous college classes and military
experience.
CONAP: The Concurrent Admissions
Programs is a partnership between the
Army Recruiting Command and civilian
colleges and Service-members Colleges
(SOC). For more information,

Reserve Officer Training Corps
(ROTC): The Army ROTC scholarship
program provides financial assistance
for the education and training of highly
qualified and motivated young men and
woman who desire to be commissioned
as an officer in the Army after graduating
from college.
Green to Gold: The Army ROTC Green
to Gold Scholarship Program affords
selected active duty enlisted members of
the Army an Opportunity to complete
their baccalaureate degree and obtain a
commission through participation in the
ROTC scholarship program.
Scholarships are available in 2 year, 3
year or 4 year format. For eligibility

Spouse Education Assistance
Program: The AER Spouse
Education Assistance Program is a
need-based scholarship program
established to assist spouses of Army
Soldiers in obtaining a 4-year
undergraduate degree. Applicants
must apply each year and may
receive assistance for up to four
academic years if they meet the
eligibility criteria. For more

Free Application for Federal
Student Aid (FAFSA): FAFSA is
available to anyone considering
attending college and requires

Officer Candidate School: If you are
thinking about becoming an Army
Officer, the counselors can help you with
determining if you are eligible to apply for
OCS and assist you with completing the
packet. Prospective candidates need to
have at least 90 credit hours towards a
college degree and must meet other
requirements, i.e., height, weight,
medical and leadership standards.
Individuals must be selected by two Army
boards (local and DA). For more

US Military Academic Preparatory
Schools (USMAPS): This program
prepares selected candidates for
admission to the United States Military
Academy. The academy provides focus
on academics, military and physical

Joint Service Transcripts (JST)
Soldiers are strongly advised to apply for
an official evaluation for their military
experience after completing 6 semester
hours from a college or university. JST is
a computerized transcript system that
produces official transcripts for eligible
soldiers upon request by combining a
soldier's military education and job
experience with descriptions and college
credit recommendations developed by
the American Council on Education

Online Academic Skills Course
(OASC): This online self-study program
is now the primary curriculum for the
FAST class. The program is designed to
help individual’s skills level. Test of Adult
Basic Education (TABE) diagnostic test
scores and their current General
Technical (GT) scores.
The virtual gateway to request Tuition
Assistance (TA) online for classroom,
distance learning, online and on-post
college courses.
Tuition Assistance (TA): Army TA
is authorized up to 16 SH per FY at
the rate of up to $250. Soldiers are
responsible for paying any tuition
above the $250 cap per semester
hour (see Top-Up).

TA Overview
•TA is authorized on a course by
course basis.
•Must maintain a grade point average
(GPA) of 2.0 for Under Graduate, 3.0
for Graduate credits funded by TA.
•Must reimburse TA to the Army If
received D or F grade for Under
Graduate and C, D, F for Graduate.
