Ashford University Transfer Policies for IB
• Ashford University only accepts courses from the IB Diploma Programme (DP).
• Courses transferring in as satisfying general education requirements or direct transfers of major courses
may also be considered for elective credit.
• All credit is awarded in semester hours.
• DP Core requirements: Extended Essay; Theory of Knowledge (TOK); Creativity, Action, Service (CAS); and
the DP Assessment are not accepted for academic credit.
• The TOK and CAS are not required to transfer in credit as all courses will be considered on a course-bycourse basis.
• Standard Level (SL) courses are not accepted for academic credit, unless located in Group 4.
• A minimum score of 5 is needed to obtain credit, except a score of 6 is needed for SL courses within Group
4.
