The purpose of the job is to offer after hours services (15h45 – 20h00 during the week and 08h00 –
16h00 on Saturdays) as and when required
Requirements
A four year Degree in Library and Information Science
Two years experience as a Librarian in an academic Library environment
Knowledge of relationship management through establishing an effective infrastructure for communication between Library clients and Client services
Knowledge and understanding of the Library’s various methods/channels of service delivery
Knowledge and understanding of present/training delivery principles and use of different teaching materials
A board knowledge and understanding of several subject areas, different subject databases, and different information resources
Knowledge and understanding to identify sources for information resources and to evaluate and use them
Basic technical knowledge and understanding of equipment, e.g. PCs, photocopiers, printers, etc
Knowledge and understanding of Library service rules and philosophy
Use of Library system for searching and adding data and circulation module
Knowledge and understanding of search methodologies including Boolean operators, search fields, etc
Knowledge of reference techniques and reference management
Use of Office technology, e.g. Word processing , E-mail, Internet, Presentation software
Knowledge and understanding of branding
Proven experience in a customer services area
Must be able to work unsupervised
