Blood Drive Next Sunday IN THE GYM 7:30 am - 12:30 pm Memorial Road was recently named the #1 church for blood donations in the Oklahoma City area! MRCC successfully gave 408 red cell products; but why stop there? Bring your ID with you next week, and give blood to those who need it most! upcoming events May 19, 2013 All Around the World At Memorial Road we are fortunate to have many of our members active in missions. The interest in missions is evident each July when we have record amounts donated in the Special Missions Contribution. We want to introduce you to three families who have dedicated their lives to serving the Lord in foreign countries. Clyde and Gwen Antwine left on May 13th for their annual trip to Germany. Clyde is Missionary-in-Residence at Oklahoma Christian and oversees our Helpers in Missions program. Clyde and Gwen started their career as missionaries 54 years ago in Switzerland. This year Clyde will preach for the church in Augsburg, where they served in 1968. The church is in the process of selecting 2nd-generation elders and has asked Clyde to teach lessons that will help in that process. Ken and Pat Beckloff left on May 14th for their annual trip to Mombasa, Kenya. Ken and Pat came to Memorial Road in 1999. They served as missionaries in Sierra Leone, West Africa, for 6 years between 1969 and 1979. Then they moved all the way across the continent to Kenya in East Africa, where they served as missionaries from 1985 till 1996: 5 years in Nairobi, the capital, and 6 years in Mombasa. They have made annual trips back to Kenya since 1996. They will teach courses at the Nairobi Great Commission School and then will move on to Mombasa where they will visit, instruct, and encourage leaders and members in the many congregations there. Pat spends most of her time overseeing the scholarship program for orphans in Mombasa that so many of our members support. Gerd and Lucky Fecht have just recently returned from a trip to Warsaw, Poland; Vienna, Austria; and Zagreb, Croatia. Gerd and Lucky are long-time members of our Missions Ministry, and Gerd was our Warsaw Country Coordinator for many years. He has agreed to coordinate our work with Mislav Ilic and his wife Snjezana in Zagreb. You will recall that we designated $12,000 in the Special Missions Contribution for Mislav. Gerd was raised in Germany, and he and Lucky have a heart for taking the gospel to the people of Europe. These long-time servants are just representative of so many of our members who have had years of service on the mission field as they have taken the gospel around the world. -Jack Skaggs Change for Children Annual Hope Harbor change can drive began last week! This marks Memorial Road’s fifteenth year to participate in the Hope Harbor Children’s Home change can drive.
