A Special Occasion Licence permits you to serve, sell and consume alcohol at your special event, celebration or
community festival. Licences are regulated by the Liquor Control and Licensing Branch, and issued by the Liquor
Distribution Branch through a BC Liquor Store. This form is a request for Comox Valley Regional District (CVRD)
support only.
Steps:
1. Visit a BC Liquor Store to pick up a copy of the “Special Occasion Licence Application.” Complete all
applicable sections. Please have your “Special Occasion Licence Application” form available when
submitting this “Request for Support of a Special Occasion Licence” to the CVRD.
2. If your event is on Denman Island or Hornby Island, contact Islands Trust at 1-250-247-2063 directly. If
your event is not on these Islands, proceed to the next step.
3. Complete this “Request for Support of a Special Occasion Licence” form and submit for review to the
CVRD at 600 Comox Road, Courtenay, BC V9N 3P6. Please allow at least one week prior to your event
for review.

4. This form will be returned to you upon completion of the following section, in approximately one week.
5. If you have not done so, contact your local RCMP detachment for their review.
6. Forward all completed forms to a BC Liquor Store for a decision.
