Tobogganing
Tobogganing is FREE! Hire your toboggan
and head straight to the toboggan park.
Tobogganing is fun for the whole family.
The Resort has two toboggan parks and
Frosti and Philly, the mountain’s mascots,
are seen most weekends at the Frosti Frog
Hollow Toboggan Park – so don’t miss them!
Toboggan hire is available on mountain.
Big Air Bag
A 9m wide by 15m long air filled cushion
that is located behind a 2m high jump. This provides
intermediate to advanced skiers and snowboarders with a
soft landing to try new tricks and perfect old ones. Come
and practice your grabs, airs and spins with confidence
and safety! Open on select days, please call ahead for details
on 03 5165 1136.
Big Air Bag passes can be purchased from the Ticket Box
in the Snowsports building.
Snowsports Program
The mountain’s sheltered ski runs, enthusiastic instructors and
numerous Snowsports Programs make this mountain the perfect
place to learn to ski or snowboard. Whether you are a beginner or
advanced, Mt Baw Baw is the perfect place to perfect your skills!

Terrain Parks
Mt Baw Baw’s terrain parks are a playground for freestyle skiers
and boarders and an un-intimidating place to practice your skills.
This winter, our NEW Kicker Park will be a permanent terrain park
located on Tank Hill – an area with snow guns, a dedicated lift
line and permanent features for your enjoyment!
Snow Groomer Tour
Climb aboard our groomer and be part of the action. Get the
night-time perspective of the mountain and watch and learn how
we get those perfect runs! Bookings can be made through Mt
Baw Baw Guest Services by 3.00pm each day.

Snowshoe Tours
Rock Pool Spa
Snowshoeing is fun and easy to learn. Snowshoeing tours of the
Resort run daily and are a great way to explore the mountain. Your
guide will provide information about the alpine environment and
Resort operations. Book at the Snowsports Ticket office on mountain
or call 03 5165 1136.
Set amongst giant granite boulders and twisted gum trees, a dip in
the Rock Pool Spa is the perfect way to relax at the end of the day.

Husky Dog Sled Tours
Our Guest Services team are on mountain 7 days a week, year- round
to answer any queries you have regarding your visit to Mt Baw Baw.

Enjoy the Mt Baw Baw surrounds…on a Dog Sled! Let a team of

GETTING HERE
Tips...
• Fill your tank up before heading up to Mt Baw
Baw. Fuel is NOT available on the mountain!
• Chains must be carried during the declared
snow season. Chain Hire outlets on pages 11-13 of this guide.
• Don’t trust your GPS – Some GPS Systems
don’t work in the region. We recommend
downloading a directional map from our
website.
• Want to get home on time? Don’t forget to add
anti-freeze to diesel fuel.
Mt Baw Baw is Melbourne’s closest downhill
ski resort, all it takes is one tank of petrol to
get here and back!
Leave bright and early and you will be on the slopes skiing or snowboarding by
the time the lifts start turning. With over 10km of cross country ski trails, 35
hectares of downhill terrain, seven surface lifts and two terrain parks you will
be hard pressed to find a better adventure venue so close to Melbourne! Enjoy a
delicious lunch at the Village Restaurant, visit the Howling Husky Dogs and chill
out in the Rock Pool Spa before making your way back down the mountain to be
home in time for dinner!
Option 1: Mt Baw Baw Tourist Road
Beautiful but narrow and windy. Most visitors from Melbourne take this route, travel time from Melbourne CBD is 2.5 hrs.
Option 2: South Face Road
An un-sealed gravel road but wider and less windy than the Tourist Road. Travel time from Melbourne CBD is 2.5 hrs.
Option 3: Scenic Suburbs

All vehicles are required by law to carry chains during the declared snow
season when entering Mt Baw Baw Alpine Resort (or where signage indicates
by the resort), and must fit them when advised.

What size chains should you hire?
Your tyres are marked with a code. Check the outside tyre wall for your car’s tyre size. The staff at your local chain
hire will help you with ensuring you have the right size and
will teach you how to fit them. Please note ladder chains are
prohibited at Mt Baw Baw.

BEFORE YOU LEAVE
• Plan the journey Decide which route you will take, make sure you plan where you will hire chains and fill up
your fuel tank before heading up the mountain.
• Save time Avoid the queues, purchase your Resort Entry permit online before you leave home! See page 8
for details.
• Check the Weather on our website before you leave home. Be prepared for all conditions as the weather can
change rapidly in the Alps. Avoid driving up in bad weather; ensure you have warm, waterproof clothing
and foot wear and a tube of sunscreen. Clothing is also available for hire on mountain. Mt Baw Baw is
stunning when the sun is out and the snow is sparkling, so cross your fingers for a bluebird day!
• Confirm your accommodation Some lodges do not supply linen. Remember to bring your own or organise a
linen pack with Guest Services at time of booking. If you are checking in outside of business hours, please
call our Guest Services team to enquire where to collect your room key and arrival pack.
• Book your lessons To make the most of your snow holiday, it’s a great idea to book yourself or your family in for snowboard or ski lesson, see page 22 for details
• Stock up before you arrive Only basic supplies are available from the General Store on mountain including
bread, milk, snacks and limited toiletries. We do NOT have a supermarket on mountain. There are a number
of dining options on the mountain but if you plan to self-cater we recommend doing your grocery shopping on your way up!

WHEN YOU ARRIVE
Resort entry
Every visitor is required to pay a Resort Entry Fee upon arrival. Pay
online before you leave home or visit a kiosk on your way up or on
the mountain. Please read the Resort Entry information on page 8
of this guide.
Tyre Chains
All vehicles are required by law to carry tyre snow chains during
the declared snow season. See pages 11-13 for more info.
Parking
Please note that the car park closest to the Village entrance (car
park 1) is strictly for day visitors only. Due to daily snow clearing,
guests who are staying overnight are required to park in car parks
2, 3 or 4 (but are welcome to temporarily park in the day car park
and unload their luggage or arrange over-snow transport).
Accommodation check in
Park your car and proceed to the Guest Services/Retail Building
within the Village where our Guest Services staff can check you in
to your accommodation. Please advise staff at time of booking if
you are checking in late; you will need to collect your keys from
the after hours safe.

the Alpine’s delicious pizzas are available

Located in the heart of the skiing area,
Skiosk is the perfect place to refuel quickly
so you don’t lose any skiing or boarding

Offering live entertainment most weekends
during Winter, the Alpine Bar is the place to
have a social drink with friends, a game of
pool or take to the dance floor. Bands and
DJ’s from across Victoria play most Saturday

Our Instructors know all the tricks for making learning how to ski
and snowboard fun!
To make the most of your snow holiday, it’s a great idea to take a
lesson.
There’s something for every level and liking – whether you are a
skier, snowboarder, child, teen or an adult, we have highly qualified
instructors from all over the globe who will ensure you have a safe
and fun learning experience!
Private lessons
If you want to learn or improve quickly then a Private Lesson is
the way to go! These lessons run daily – with an instructor all to
yourself they can tailor the lesson to your desired goals and specific
areas of interest.
Group lessons
Group Lessons at our Snowsports Centre cater for all abilities and
ages of both skiers and boarders. These lessons are cost effective
and a social and fun way to learn or improve on your skills.

Cross country ski lessons
Never tried cross country skiing before? No
problem. With over 10km’s of ski trails winding
around the Resort and trail linkages into the
adjacent Baw Baw National Park, there is a trail
to suit all abilities from beginner to advanced.
Burton Learn to Ride Program
Advanced techniques
Mt Baw Baw has teamed up with Burton (one of the
world’s leading snowboard brands) to make a brilliant
program for anyone looking for progress into, and through
snowboarding. The Progression program is designed to
make learning to snowboard fun and easy, by combining
proven teaching methodologies with specific equipment.
Our highly qualified and passionate instructors introduce
you to the fundamentals of snowboarding, from the
understanding of your first stance and turns
through to the more advanced freestyle moves!
If you want to tune up your skills, perfect your technique and learn
to harness your new found speed then an Advanced Techniques
Lesson is for you! Suitable for intermediate to advanced skiers.
Freestyle lessons
Head into the Terrain Parks with our qualified freestyle specialists to
learn or improve your skills. Work on jumps, boxes, rails, grabs, spins
and even try the Big Air Bag (when available). Suitable for skiers
and boarders.
Instructor training
Become a ski or snowboard Instructor! You will receive personalised
feedback and mentoring from qualified instructors preparing you for
your APSI Level 1 and 2 Exams.
Kids camps
Mt Baw Baw’s Snowsports team offer fun and rewarding camps for
kids aged 3-5yrs Ski only plus kids 6-12yrs Ski/Snowboard. The Kids
Camp program is a great starting point for your child’s first skiing
experience or a platform to progress as a seasoned professional!

Located on the mountain, Mount Baw Baw Ski Hire is the one stop shop for
everything you need to have an enjoyable snow experience!
Mount Baw Baw Ski Hire has been owned by the Reiter family for over 40
years. This family run business have a wealth of knowledge regarding the most
suitable hire equipment options. Skis, snowboards, clothing, poles, helmets
and snowshoes are available to hire plus much more! You can also purchase
gloves, hats, goggles, sunglasses and souvenirs.

The Alpine Flashpackers
A ‘step up’ from your standard backpackers room, The Alpine Flashpackers is perfect for
those travelling on a budget…but doing it in style! Located in the heart of the Baw Baw
village, the Alpine Flashpackers is a hop, skip and a jump from all the attractions and
various food and beverage outlets.
The Alpine Flashpackers is designed to allow guests the chance to enjoy the communal,
shared experience that is the spirit of backpacking, but be able to retreat to your own
double or triple room with an ambience that is cosy, relaxed and private. Small basic shared
kitchen available. All rooms have ensuite bathrooms.

The Alpine Backpackers
The Alpine Backpackers sleeps 6 people
in bunk bed formation. The Backpackers
dorm room has one shared bathroom and
toilet not including other toilet facilities
downstairs in the Bistro. All guests must be
over 18 years of age.

Altitude Apartment
Benbullen
Altitude Apartment is a fully self-contained
2 bedroom unit, set in a tranquil location
amongst spectacular snow gums.
Benbullen is a warm and inviting lodge with
spectacular views and large open fire place,
in a premier position near the Maltese T-bar.
The apartment has a TV, DVD player, lounge
area and dining table and is close to ski
lifts/lessons and the centre of the Baw Baw
Village. Altitude Apartment sleeps 4.
Five bedrooms accommodate up to 23
people, in double and single beds. Semiprivate bathrooms, gas ducted heating,
kitchen facilities, drying room, and luggage
storage provided.
Coora Valley Chalet
Coora Valley Chalet is Mt Baw Baw’s
premium accommodation.
Located in the centre of the village, the
Chalet sleeps 6-8, has a modern kitchen
and bathroom, luxurious living area, fully
equipped office, wifi, TV, DVD, sound
system, small pool and foosball tables,
laundry and drying room, with linen and
towels provided.

Cascade Apartments
Fully self contained, family friendly apartments with private amenities and full
kitchen facilities, Cascades is the perfect base for your mountain experience.
Cascade Apartments is the ideal holiday setting both in winter and in summer,
whether it is for snowboarding, skiing, mountain bike riding and bushwalking, or
simply a quiet getaway in the pristine alpine atmosphere. Cascades has a range of
options from a cosy one bedroom apartment to the larger 3 bedroom family units.
Your apartment is ideally located amongst the beautiful snow gums, conveniently
adjacent to the day car park, making access for your family so easy. You simply
drive up to your apartment and unload in readiness for a fun filled mountain
experience. A short stroll will take you to all village amenities, restaurants, ski
hire and stores as well as the various lifts to the Mount Baw Baw ski runs.

EdSki Lodge
EdSki Lodge is a large family lodge that can
accommodate up to 36 people. It contains
shared bathrooms and toilets, a self
contained kitchen, lounge, as well as drying
room facilities. The lounge area contains
couches, billiard table, table tennis table,
TV, books and games, an open wood fire and
large deck. The lodge also offers washing
machine facilities. Guests have access to
free Wi-Fi within the Lodge.
Everest Ski Lodge
Everest is a friendly club style lodge with
self-catering facilities. Contains 8 bedrooms
sleeping 2, 4, 6 or 8 people, a gas log fire
in the large living area plus central heating.
The Lodge provides ‘instantaneous’ hot
water, a commercial kitchen and laundry
facilities. Guests must bring their own
bedding, or request a linen pack at time of
booking.
Lonsdale Ski Lodge
You will be in the heart of the village, very
close to ski runs and entertainment. Guests
like the ‘60-’70s lodge and comfortable
layout – it’s easy to keep clean. We’re
a friendly, family-orientated lodge that
enables groups to relax together. The foyer
handles skis and snowboards. The bathroom
has private cubicles and there’s a large
drying room. Four bunk-rooms sleep four or
five.

Frosti Lodge
Frosti Lodge is a spacious family lodge. It has 6 private bedrooms, 3 shared
bathrooms and sleeps up to 20 people.
The lodge has a large kitchen and open plan living. Frosti Lodge is centrally
heated, has a large drying room and flat screen TV and DVD facilities.
The perfect lodge for families or large groups travelling together!
Doonas and pillows are provided (guests to provide covers and sheets). Linen
packs are available on request.

Mt Baw Baw Ski Club
Mount Baw Baw Ski Club is a comfortable
place for families to enjoy themselves in
a relaxing club environment. The lodge is
closest to the ski school, ticket box and
main lifts.
There are 25 beds in six bunkrooms, two
dining areas, a comfortable lounge with
mountain views, large kitchen and drying
room and an onsite manager.
Wonthaggi Ski Lodge
Wonthaggi Ski Lodge is perfect for families
or large groups. The lodge is an A-frame
style building with direct access to the
ground floor. Features a drying room, shared
bathrooms with 3 separate showers and
toilets. The middle floor has direct access
from the front of the lodge, an open plan
living area, self-contained kitchen, living
room, TV and dining area.
Woollybutt Cabin
Woollybutt Cabin is a private, fully selfcontained 2 bedroom cabin, set in a
tranquil location amongst spectacular snow
gums close to the Maltese Cross ski run. The
Cabin includes a fully self-contained kitchen
and bathroom. There is a drying cupboard,
lounge area with TV/DVD, couch, dining
table, private deck and electric heating.

Tanjil Creek Lodge
Tanjil Creek Private Lodge is a Tourism Accredited upmarket property nestled in
the snowgums at the heart of the Baw Baw village.
It has five bedrooms (TVs in all) sleeping 16 people, three bathrooms, mezzanine
dining area and a modern kitchen featuring microwaves, stove, dishwasher &
a coffee machine. The main Lodge Lounge has a log fire, large windows, & big
screen TV. There is a warm efficient drying room. There is also a private apartment within the lodge ‘Halls Retreat’ offering a Spa
Room, a private bedroom with en-suited bathroom, a private kitchen/dining area
and lounge (including a 3D large screen TV).
Tanjil Creek Private Lodge is available year round.

Downhill Mountain Biking
Mt Baw Baw’s downhill mountain bike track has developed a reputation within the
industry as one of the most challenging and exciting runs in the country. The Resort
runs a shuttle most weekends from November-April and offers bike hire and beginner
lessons, equipping you with the skills and confidence required to tackle the descent!
Cross Country Mountain Biking
Visit the Resort’s iconic landmarks and enjoy stunning sights including fields of
wildflowers, forests of snow gums and the impressive view from the summit. All levels are
catered for, meaning beginners right through to hardened experts can explore the Resort
using pedal power. Mountain bikes are available for hire from the Adventure Hub on mountain.

Road Cycling
Cycling up the Mt Baw Baw Tourist Road to the Baw Baw village is not for the faint hearted, after
all it is considered the steepest sealed road climb in Australia! Mt Baw Baw hosts the annual Baw
Baw Classic cycling event, and is said to be the toughest of the 7 peaks in the Alpine Ascent

7 Peaks Run
Head for the hills, fill your lungs with fresh alpine air and hit the trails running. 7 Peaks Run is
a series of colour-coded runs traversing more than 200km through the 7 Peaks of Victoria, with
a course to suit every level of fitness and experience. Weave your way through snow gum forests
and towering stands of mountain ash, duck between a jumble of granite boulders and sweep past

Trail Running
The Resort’s 10km of walking trails wind their way through the
