Opening Prayer: (Unison) God our Father, whose name is so often upon our lips, but whose presence and power often are missing from our actions, meet us this morning in this sacred place. Tenderly bless all people who come before you in this hour bearing burdens and struggles. Fill us with the wisdom and Spirit of the Lord in whose name we pray. Amen. Opening Hymn: ‘Spirit of the Living God’ 90 PB Invitation to Confession: Prayer of Confession: Assurance of Forgiveness: WE LISTEN FOR THE WORD OF GOD The Old Testament Lesson: Responsive Selection: Psalm 104:24-34; 35b 24 How many are your works, LORD! In wisdom you made them all; the earth is full of your creatures. 25 There is the sea, vast and spacious, teeming with creatures beyond number— living things both large and small. 26 There the ships go to and fro, and Leviathan, which you formed to frolic there. 1 27 All creatures look to you to give them their food at the proper time. 28 When you give it to them, they gather it up; when you open your hand, they are satisfied with good things. 29 When you hide your face, they are terrified; when you take away their breath, they die and return to the dust. 30 When you send your Spirit, they are created, and you renew the face of the ground. 31 May the glory of the LORD endure forever; may the LORD rejoice in his works— 32 he who looks at the earth, and it trembles, who touches the mountains, and they smoke. 33 I will sing to the LORD all my life; I will sing praise to my God as long as I live. 34 May my meditation be pleasing to him, as I rejoice in the LORD. 35b Praise the LORD, my soul. Praise the LORD. Grant that we will never neglect the anguish of others, but instead enter into the anguish with the spirit of 2 grace. Let now these tithes and offerings be blessed and multiplied for the cause of your Kingdom. Amen. The Prayers of the People: The Lord’s Prayer: Closing Hymn: ‘My Faith Looks Up to Thee’ 393 PB Commission and Blessing: Be led by the Spirit as sons and daughters of God and let Him turn visions to reality through you. I will sing to God as long as I live; I will praise Him as long as I live. The Counselor, The Holy Spirit will teach you. The Spirit of Truth will dwell in you. May my meditation and my service be pleasing to you, O God, in whom I rejoice. Peace I leave with you, the peace of God: let not your hearts be troubled or afraid. Anyone interested in becoming involved with the organization and leadership of this year’s program can contact Lisa Clarke, or Shelly at the Church Office (786-4919). Come and share in this amazing experience! Kids, please watch for our pre-registration coming in early June! Our VBS is free of charge to any children that want to partake. If, however, you would like to help financially with this year’s VBS (it gets rather costly!), you can sponsor a child for $15.00. This would cover the costs of daily snacks and take home momentos for one child during this year’s program. For more information, or to sponsor a child, please contact Shelly at the Church Office. 4
