INTRODUCTION Change the World Trust is a Non – Profit passionate about long-term solutions and rippleeffect project results. Its primary focus is educational projects benefitting youth and children. We are dedicated to changing the world through implementing practical initiatives coupled with true and sincere love, which we believe is still the answer to this world’s complex problems. Project Categories: • • • • Two permanent Computer Training Centers providing free IT Training 5 days a week to unemployed youth from low-income areas. (Midrand, GP & Somerset West, WC) “Connecting Leaders” - A comprehensive Teacher Training Program motivating teachers in difficult and underfunded schools. The program includes: Leadership, Classroom Management & Basic IT Training. WIIBLV – “We Believe” a new Entrepreneurship Training & ED Coaching Program. Developing the South African youth into lively, thriving Businessmen and Women. Volunteering & Community Services Program – Orphan and child visitation programs and coordination of donated goods to various institutions. Events for underprivileged children. 2. PROJECT BACKGROUND Due to a lack of training and development opportunities, many young adults become frustrated in the attempt to find purposeful employment and many eventually lose hope and turn to crime or other self-destructive habits. Through complementing core skills with secretarial know-how and computer literacy, these same young people become adept and sought-after in the IT integrated work places and employment positions. 2 We, at Change the World, were motivated to start this project in order to infuse hope and give these idealistic and desperate young people a real chance at a better and fulfilling life before it’s too late and they give up hope on themselves. 3. CONCEPT “Nationwide, free basic computer courses that enable students to become adept and competent in an IT integrated study and work environment.” We have taken the offensive and are tackling the skills shortage head-on. A chain of inter-linked IT and Business Training & Study Centers will share operational and technical know-how and provide quality skills training, free of charge, to underprivileged youths. The primary demographic focus is: unemployed young people from previously disadvantaged minorities. Rosi - CTW IT Center, WC. - July 2010 4. PROJECT ACHEIVEMENTS This project has concrete objectives, immediate benefits, and proven long-term impact in the community of the project beneficiaries, as they find employment or alternatively are empowered and encouraged to continue their academic ambitions. To date, (July 2011) almost 450 students have received a sponsored 3 month, basic IT Training Course. The immense impact of this project can be seen in the fantastic developments which have occurred in these young people’s lives as a result of this training. >> 60-70% of Course Graduates find employment or other education opportunities after CTW training.
