FISCAL YEAR 2008 PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS

Continued as the lead contractor providing training and technical
age-based parent guides, entitled Your Child’s Development, that span development
Resource Center and the National Infant and Toddler Child Care
from birth to 36 month. The guides, which are endorsed by the American
Initiative—that improve the quality of care for infants and toddlers.
Academy of Pediatrics, are available in both English and Spanish for parents and
professionals and have been met with overwhelmingly positive feedback.
Supported military families by increasing awareness about the impact of
training and resources to the professionals who serve these families.

Secured an award from the US Children’s Bureau, in collaboration with the
Center for the Study of Social Policy and Alliance for Children’s Trust and
Prevention Funds, to operate a new National Quality Improvement Center
on Early Childhood.

Strengthened and broadened our Court Teams for Maltreated Infants and
Toddlers project that provides services to abused and neglected infants and
toddlers—the fastest growing population in foster care.

Expanded our Policy Network to more than 8,300 members and distributed
bi-weekly electronic newsletters, along with special action alerts and news
bulletins, to help advance key policies focused on good health, strong
families, and positive early learning experiences.

Explored research, practice, and policy issues associated with critical topics
such as child welfare; the developing mind; and language, culture, and
learning in our bi-monthly Zero To Three Journal.
Secured a major award from First 5 Los Angeles to lead and manage the
Best Start Workforce Development Initiative that will impact diverse sectors

With generous funding from MetLife Foundation, published a set of nine
assistance for two major federal efforts—the Early Head Start National
trauma, grief, and loss on very young children and also provided specialized

Provided professional development experiences for more than 1,700
participants at our 22nd annual National Training Institute in Orlando,
Florida, and more than 1,000 registrants at the 12th annual Early Head Start
