If a student is not achieving the m inim um grade for entry into an IB course or level w hich is a prerequisite of their preferred university or career,then he or she m ust put in the added effort to raise his/her grades before the end of G rade 10. Teachers are on hand to offer support here. Students and their fam ilies should also research alternative university courses or pathw ays into the desired career. H igher Levelvs Standard Level H igher Level (H L) courses are taught over 240 hours and usually contain significant extra content over Standard Level(SL) courses,w hich are taught over 150 hours.H L and SL students are taught together in allclasses,though there are tim es w hen a teacher m ay ask SL students to w ork independently w hile the H L students cover their ow n content. H L and SL students sit different exam s, and Internal Assessm ent com ponents m ay be assessed using different criteria and/or tasks. In som e cases, high achievem ent in a H L subject can be w orth course credit at university.
