This directive was implemented in the EU on July 1, 2006. The RoHS Recast Directive Enforcement began January 2, 2013 and is more restrictive than the original RoHS 2002 Directive. Symantec products sold in the EU on or after July 1, 2006 comply with the EU RoHS (including RoHS-6) requirements. In line with the RoHS Recast Directive, service or upgrade parts that do not meet the restricted levels may no longer is offered to support legacy products sold prior to July 1, 2006 unless they are compliant. It should be deposited at an appropriate facility to enable recovery and recycling. o Much of the WEEE ends up in landfill, where the lead and other toxins it contains can cause soil and water contamination. This can have a harmful effect on natural habitat, wildlife and also human health. o Many electrical items that we throw away can be repaired or recycled.
