that they will be able to carry out professional work on a scientific basis, to critically classify scientific results and to act with responsibility.
In addition to knowledge in the area of information and communication system engineering, knowledge from other scientific disciplines,
which are of special importance for being successful in the dynamic technology environment, is included. The degree spreads over a span
of four years of study, comprising 136 credit hour study.
This programme provides the opportunity to study
Communication systems, such as Optical Fibre, Wireless, Satellite, and Telecommunication systems, the Internet, interactive TV; Design
of electronic systems using Microwave and Optical Fibre Links; How different types of data (e.g. speech, video, etc.) can be encoded for
transmission and storage in communication systems; How project management and systems engineering techniques can be applied to
development of communication systems. Design of computer networks, and development of software that runs on networks; Modeling
techniques for electrical systems.

Digital Wallet
The main idea of “Digital Wallet” is to replace paper money by smart cards in SEECS
campus. Instead of carrying your wallet around everywhere and fumbling for it to get
the cash for inter campus payments All a student has to do is to top-up his/her card by
top-up machine which would be installed around campus where students will insert
card and money to charge. Now the student is ready for digital payment which is much
more feasible and secure than ordinary payment method.

ACADEMIC PROJECTS
Analysis and designing of a bandpass filter using coupled line microstrips.
The project is to design an RF bandpass filter having pass band between 5.1 GHz to 5.3
GHz using coupled line microstrips. This frequency range falls in C band of the
microwaves which is used for satellite communication transmissions, cordless
telephones and whether radar systems. For such communication and transmissions
we need a particular band of operating frequency which can be achieved by bandpass
filter.

Designing High Performance Multi-core Open-Flow Router
We have to program dumb Cavium-Octeon board at the system level in such a way that
the hardware behaves as an Open-Flow enabled router. That Programmed board or
router will communicate with a controller over a secure channel. Actually We are
developing an operating system-less application in the C language that transforms the
multi core Octeon board into packet forwarding device in which the routing decision
making part is on a separate centralized controller that will allow developers and
network professionals to modify the routing decisions according to their needs.

Final Year Project:
Implementing a Robust Topology algorithm in Vehicular Ad-hoc networks. In vehicular ad hoc
networks (VANETs), the topology is highly dynamic due to the movement of the nodes; hence an
on-going session suffers frequent path breaks. Disruption occurs either due to the movement of
the intermediate nodes in the path or due to the movement of end nodes, demanding for
routing protocols aware of frequent topology changes. This project is related to implementing a
topology control algorithm in vehicular Ad-hoc networks in order to maximize packet delivery
ratio.

Brain Computer Interface (Bio-Feedback based platform for rehabilitation)
In BCI, we extract EEG signals from the scalp of human brain, we process them and then
we transform these processed signals into control signals. It transforms bioelectrical brain
signals into control signals. It is based upon navigation in a virtual environment by the
output control signals of an EEG-based Brain Computer Interface (BCI). We will move an
object in a virtual environment with the help of these control signals.

Software Solution for Caching of Bit-Torrent Content for NAYATEL-PAKISTAN (FYP)
According to Certain Sources, Bit-Torrent traffic is around 35% of the total traffic of the internet. For an ISP,
this amount of traffic means a lot. An ISP can lessen this traffic by implementing a caching mechanism for
BTP at the Egress Router, thus conserving the uplink and the downlink bandwidth. This project is done in
collaboration with NAYATEL-Pakistan and will be implemented there.

Introducing the redundancy to achieve reliability in a Wireless Sensor Network
Poly3 is an improvement of Poly, which offers reliability in a wireless sensor network by retaining a polygon
around the sink. While Poly retains only one polygon, in Poly3 it is proposed that retaining polygons of size 3
in the whole network will offer more reliability. Poly3 offers reliability throughout the network.
