Pre-Health Sciences – University Program
Thank you for your interest in the Pre-Health Science (PHS) – University program, we are proud of our
program and our graduates. To assist you in understanding the selection process, please carefully review the
following information:
Admission Requirements:

Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD), or equivalent, including the following required courses:
o English - any Grade 12 (C) or (U), or equivalent AND
o Mathematics - any Grade 12 (C) or (U), or equivalent AND
o Biology - Grade 11 (C) or (U) or Grade 12 (U) OR Chemistry - Grade 11 (U) or Grade 12 (C) or
(U) OR Physics - Grade 11 (U) or Grade 12 (C) or (U)

The PHS - University program will provide you with the opportunity to gain acceptance into various healthrelated programs taught at the university level including, but not limited to:






Nursing (Collaborative RN Program)
Biological Sciences
Chemistry
Neuroscience
Math
Physics
Taking the PHS - University program does NOT provide guaranteed entry into a university. Also, please note
that some university programs may require additional courses, certificates, or licenses in addition to their
standard admission requirements.
We strongly encourage you to contact the Admissions department at the appropriate university in order to
research the admission requirements for your future program of interest to ensure such requirements will be
met.
Some students who choose the PHS – University program seek entry to college programs, such as Paramedic or
Practical Nursing (RPN). Students are encouraged to check with the Admissions Office of the college you seek
to enter to confirm their practice and policy. The PHS – University option is NOT given extra consideration for
entry to programs at Niagara College.
