Click physics interactives and then scroll down and click on refraction and lenses interactives. Click on the third simulation, Optics Bench – Lenses and launch interactive. Task 1: Draw a Ray Diagram for a Convex Lens Make sure the settings have the arrow highlighted and it shows a converging lens. The focal length is 20 cm, object distance is about 43.8 cm, and the object height is 10 cm. Draw the ray diagram that they show you on the figure below. Make each ray a different color. Task 2: Compare Object to Image Using a Convex Lens Keep the same settings as in task 1, but move the object to help fill in the chart below. Location is same side as object or opposite side, Orientation is upright or inverted, Size is smaller or bigger than object, Image type is real or virtual. Case 1: Objects is beyond 2f Case 2: Objects is between 2f and f Case 3: Objects is inside f Task 3: Compare Object to Image Using a Concave Lens Keep the same settings as in task 1, but move the object to help fill in the chart below. Case 1: Objects is beyond 2f Case 2: Objects is between 2f and f Case 3: Objects is inside f Task 4: Draw Ray Diagrams Directions: Use the rules from the Optical Ray Diagram Rules information sheet, Draw the ray diagrams for the various cases of optical references. Convex Lens Has multiple cases. Ch 29 & 30: Refraction and Reflection
