Spotters from area fire departments were paged out and were keeping
a close eye on the sky from Elmwood to Weeping Water to Murray as
the National Weather Service alerted of possible tornadic activity in that Weeping Water
lane of communities.
The tornado warning was canceled about 11:30pm and replaced with a
severe thunderstorm warning as the storm line became more defined
and the front pushed faster through eastern Cass County with straightline wind gusts that downed trees in Plattsmouth and Murray. The

THE CONSTRUCTION WORKER injured when he was struck by a car on
Highway 34 near 190th Street in the Eagle area was in serious condition
yesterday at Bryan West Hospital in Lincoln. 64-year-old Danny E.
Crownover of Unadilla was a flagman in a construction zone when he
was struck by a car about 11:30am Wednesday. (See Thursday

LOCAL PLATTE RIVER LEVELS up about two feet this week — The water
from the Colorado flooding several days ago just reached this area.
After being under 3 feet for several weeks at Louisville the level
reached 5.28 feet on Wednesday. The level started to drop but rose to
just under 6 feet last night with the heavy rain in the area. There is no
threat of flooding as flood stage is 9 feet. The reading at 4:15am today
was 5.58 feet.

HAPPY PAWS AND PETS AT THE PUMPKIN PATCH — The 7th Annual
