King Tutankhamun by Alex ! I’m going to be talking about King Tut or King Tutankhamun. They are the same person. He is my ancient hero, and trust me you will learn some pretty cool and interesting facts about him. I’m going to be talking about his childhood, what he did back then, and his death. ! First I will discuss his childhood. I think it was awesome, but on the downside his father, Aknenaten, died when he was around nine years old. The awesome part is that he came to the throne at nine years old! When he was king he had to have a lot of decisions made for him because of his young age. Like all kids he loved board games, but he also threw lots and lots of parties. There is not much more to say about King Tut’s childhood. ! Second, he had to deal with many angry citizens when he changed all of the religions. When his father died, he started to believe the forbidden gods. It was believed he was married to his half sister. He also fought in a war against the Hittites, an army. It was believed that he was hit with an arrow, and the wound later got infected. People say he is the most known pharaoh in the world because of his young age, and he got the throne at age nine. Well he didn’t have a long life. There is not a lot more to say about his life. Lastly, its believed he was hit with an arrow and later got infected. It was a tragedy when he died. When he finally was buried 70 years later, it was in The Valley of the Kings. When they found his tomb it was filled with lots of board games and jewels. When they found his tomb in the 19th century, it wasn’t robbed; the first one ever! ! Well that’s probably the most you ever heard about somebody’s death. I really enjoyed King Tut as my ancient hero because I think it’s so interesting that he had wealth at such a young age and how he was so admired and loved. I hope you loved all the facts about his death, childhood, and what he did back then much as I did. My Ancient Hero by Calvin My ancient hero is Hatshepsut. Hatshepsut was an Egyptian pharaoh. You would think that Hatshepsut was a boy, but Hatshepsut was a girl. Although she dressed and acted like a boy, she was a girl. Here are some things you might want to know about her. To begin, she was born in 1502 B.C. Her father was Thuthmose and her mother was Aahmes. Thuthmose had another wife named Mountnofrit. They had a son named Thuthmose the 2nd. Hatshepsut married her half-brother Thuthmose the 2nd. After they were married, Thuthmose the 2nd became pharaoh. They had two daughters Neferura, and Hatshepsut-Merytre. In three or more years Thuthmose the 2nd died. Before he died he had a son with a servant. The son was named Thuthmose the 3rd. When Thuthmose the 2nd died, Thuthmose the 3rd was not old enough to rule. That’s when Hatshepsut became the first girl pharaoh, but Thuthmose the 3rd and Hatshepsut ruled together for awhile. Hatshepsut ruled for twenty years. She accomplished many things in her life. she was a great builder. She was kind and made peace with other countries. So there were no wars during her rule. She made many beautiful temples and tombs. Which Included The Temple of Deirel-Bahri. After those twenty years Thuthmose the 3rd was old enough to rule. He was mad because Hatshepsut was such a good ruler. He then tried to erase her name from history. That didn’t work. That’s why Hatshepsut is known about today. Hatshepsut is my hero because when there was no one to rule she stepped up and became pharaoh. Not only that, but she was a great one too. She built beautiful buildings, tombs, and so on. She also was the first girl pharaoh. In my opinion it was a brave thing to do. That’s why Hatshepsut is my hero. Hammurabi the Sumerian Ruler by David ! I am going to be writing about Hammurabi. We know that there are two hundred and eighty-two written laws and possibly more that were rubbed off of the rock slab. Hammurabi didn’t make all the laws; he took most of his code from people who he conquered. ! We do not know when or how Hammurabi died for sure, but he was sick before he died. Since Hammurabi was sick many days before he died, some people think that the sickness caused his death. So most people say Hammurabi died of natural causes. People believe that Hammurabi died around 1750 BC. They don’t know what country Hammurabi died in. Many sources say that Hammurabi lived between forty-five and sixty years of age. He had two brothers, one sister, and a half-brother. His mom remarried after his dad died when Plato was twenty years old. This was tragic because his second dad was really mean. I loved reading about Plato’s childhood. ! Plato’s accomplishments were really amazing. He was the founder of the Academy in Athens. Plato started writing when he was 40 or 50 years old. He wrote many books, but one of the best books he wrote was called “The Republic’’. In “The Republic” he talked about what he believes is a perfect government. Plato believed that the higher classes should form the government because they are more educated. People say that Plato was the head of his time because he wrote about many things before Copernicus and Galileo. ! Plato had good and bad things that happened in his life. Plato thought that people were stupid. He thought about the natural world and how it works. He served in the military in the war with Athens. His army destroyed the Athenian’s democracy. !
