This month’s program will present an overview of Jeppesen and review their products
for commercial, private, and military aviation. Jeppesen provides a wide array of
navigation solutions from traditional paper maps to sophisticated avionics systems.
Craig Thighe will speak on the ways that WAASenabled GPS solutions are revolutionizing aircraft
safety. WAAS, the wide area augmentation system,
allowing aircraft to fly GPS generated vertical flight
paths to precision like minimums, allowing operators
precision like approaches at airports without precision
instrument approach ground equipment. WAAS is
revolutionizing the way that general and business
aviation operators operate around the United States
and is enabling a higher level of safety at many
airports.
Craig has worked for Jeppesen since 2002 and currently works in Jeppesen’s
Government & Industry Affairs organization. He received his BS in aviation science
from Utah Valley University and is graduating with his MBA from Colorado State
University in May, 2010. He is a licensed Airline Transport Pilot, Gold Seal Flight
Instructor and the Chief Pilot for the Colorado Wing of Angel Flight West. He also
serves as an FAA Safety Team Member for the Denver Flight Standards District
Office.
