PROJECT
Mr. Gracias
Purpose: Create a visual timeline showing the evolution of our understanding of the atom. Be creative. I will show you some samples.
1. Page 1 should have an actual timeline.
2. Starting at page 2: Each page should contain a summary of the ideas for the following scientists:
1. Democritus
Atomic timeline models must include as a minimum the following text/information:
2. John Dalton
1. Date of discovery, what was the discovery?
3. JJ Thomson
2. Name of the scientist, nationality, biography
4. Ernest Rutherford
3. Summarizing statements indicating his/her major contributions
5. Neils Bohr
6. Irwin Schrödinger
7. James Chadwick
8. Alchemists
Grading Rubric
9. Charles Coulomb
20 pts: A ccurately portrays the contribution of the scientists.
10. Wilhelm Crookes
11. Henri Becquerel
5 pts.: All 5 graphics/models of the atom are included (and accurate)
12. Max Planck
5 pts.: Quality workmanship: readable, presentable, pleasing to the eye, and colorful.
13. Wilhelm Roentgen
14. The Curies
15. Albert Einstein
16. Hans Geiger
17. Robert Millikan
18. Lise Meitner
19. Otto Hahn
20. Glenn Seaborg
3. Atomic timeline models must include illustrations (hand-drawn, picture, or graphic art)
of the following atomic models (in correct chronological order):
1. Indivisible solid sphere
2. Nuclear atom
3. Plum pudding model
4. Bohr model
5. Quantum model.
4. You must provide a title and include your name, and period #.
Due to the extensive research which you will do, I will be providing credit on this project as part of the assessment category, and not as homework.
