EagleOnline
Houston Community College (HCC) utilizes the learning management system (LMS), Moodle 2.0
to administrate its online courses. HCC adopted the name EagleOnline to identify the learning
management system. Online courses encompass non-credit, continuing education and
workforce.
Technical Requirements
To use EagleOnline, you will need a PC (Windows XP SP2) or better, or Mac (OS X 10.2) or better
with a broadband connection to the internet. Generally speaking, if your computer and
connection are fast enough to play streaming video from the web, then your setup is adequate
for EagleOnline. A complete setup will also require the most commonly used internet plugins:






Use Mozilla Firefox 3.0 or higher. Some functionality may be lost if you do not use the Mozilla
Firebox web browser.





How long does it take a course and student roster to populate from PeopleSoft (PS) to EagleOnline?
6-24 hours after tagging in PeopleSoft for EO2.
How do I request a sandbox?
E-mail request to del.eagleonlinebox@hccs.edu, allow 1-2 business days for processing.
How can I request my course(s) to be cross-listed?
Submit request at http://de2.hccs.edu/fv
Call 713.718.2000 (option 4-2-3) to check on crossing listing status.
What if I am missing a section/class, cannot see my student class roster or other problems?

What if I do not know my username or password?
Username is the student’s W# and password is the same for their AD Directory; if they do not know their
password, the student can call IT Help Desk at 713.718.8800, option 1 to reset.
How do I enroll in an online course?
For semester or credit hour course(s)
1. Go to homepage, www.hccs.edu, click Programs & Courses
2. Click Distance Education, http://de.hccs.edu/
3. Scroll down to Advising & Registration Session, click Student Services
4. Click Steps to Apply to Take a DE course under How To Apply
5. For additional assistance, complete AskDE Online Form,
http://de-counseling.hccs.edu/StudentSignIn/ this form is also under Student Services, an
academic advisor will respond in 24 business hours.

COURSE REQUIREMENTS AND EXPECTATIONS
A. Attendance Policy
Regular and punctual attendance is required at all lecture and laboratory sessions. If
an absence is anticipated, the student is to make a scheduling arrangement in
advance with the instructor. In order to receive CEUs and a Certificate of
Completion, a minimum of 80% attendance is required.
B. Dress Code - none
C. Cell Phones and Pagers – non applicable
D. Behavior
Disruptive behavior or any behavior that interferes with any educational activity
being performed by the instructor will not be allowed. Additionally, no student
may interfere with his/her fellow students’ right to pursue their academic goals
to the fullest in an atmosphere appropriate to a community of scholars.
STUDENT EVALUATION:
This course is nonacademic. You will either pass the course (complete) or not pass
(incomplete). To determine completion of the course, the instructor will assign grades for
all exams, assignments, lab activities and practical exams.
WITHDRAWAL AND REFUND POLICY:
For continuing education courses fewer than 360 contract hours, full refund will be made if
a student withdraws prior to the first class date, or in the case of college error or class
cancellation.
Refunds are processed as soon as possible. They are generally mailed four to six weeks
following the last day to apply for a refund.
Any refund mailed to the name and address on record is considered delivered. The Stop Payment
Fee to reissue a refund check mailed to an incorrect address is $20. Tuition and fees paid directly to
the institution by sponsor, grants, loans, donor, or scholarship shall be refunded to the source
rather than directly to the student. Fees paid by other third parties, such as friends or relatives will
be refunded directly to the student.
DISABILITY SERVICES:
Any student with a documented disability (e.g. physical, learning, psychiatric, vision,
hearing, etc.) who needs to arrange reasonable accommodations must contact the
Disability Services Office at the respective college at the beginning of each semester.
Instructors are authorized to provide only the accommodations requested by the Disability
Support Services Office. The School of Continuing Education Disability Services Office

ADDITIONAL LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES
This course complies with these goals in the following manner:
 Opportunities for Student-Faculty Interaction. Students are encouraged to ask
questions during the didactic portion of the course and request clarification and
guidance while in the student laboratory. Additionally, students may schedule
individual conferences with the instructor as needed.
 Opportunities for Career Exploration. Career and employment opportunities for
students are discussed in the didactic portion of the course. Other learning
opportunities are explored by discovering the students’ interest and explaining the
various disciplines offered at HCC.
 Opportunities for Supplemental Instruction. Students are informed of various
books, publications, videos, and software found in the Department and Technical
Library, which relate to this field. Outside assignments are given to enhance learning.
One-on-one tutoring sessions are available by appointment.
