Non-Degree Undergraduate Exchange Program for 2014-2015 University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC)/Technische Universität Munich (TUM) Outline of Exchange Program UIUC students spend a minimum of 1 semester (including summer) at the Technische Universität Munich and TUM students spend one or two 16-week semesters at UIUC. TUM students are registered as full-time non-degree graduate exchange students if accepted by department or as regular non-degree exchange students and must return to home institution after a maximum of two consecutive semesters at UIUC. A maximum of 2 TUM students will be accepted to study at UIUC per semester through this agreement. Approval for more than 2 students must be obtained prior to sending applications. Actual numbers of exchange students each year/term will be mutually agreed upon by both schools prior to the application period. Academic Calendar 2014-2015 International Student Reporting Date: August 18, 2014 - August 21, 2014 (students should arrive during this time) International Student Orientation: Thursday, August 21, 2014 Fall Semester 2014: Monday, August 25, 2014 - Wednesday, December 10, 2014 Examination Period: Friday, December 12, 2014 - Friday, December 19, 2014 Vacation Period: Saturday, November 22, 2014 - Sunday, November 30, 2014 Spring Semester 2015: Tuesday, January 20, 2015 - Wednesday, May 6, 2015 Examination Period: Friday, May 8, 2015 - Friday, May 15, 2015 Vacation Period: Saturday, March 21, 2015 - Sunday, March 29, 2015 Admissions Criteria Student must have the following to be considered for admission as an exchange student: o ‘B’ average o 610 (253 computer and 103 iBT based) TOEFL or 6.5 IELTS o At least one year in residence at home university Note: TOEFL or IELTS and GRE test scores must be sent directly from Testing Services Office to the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (Institution Code: 1836, Department Code: 00). Students whose TOEFL is less than the 610 (253 computer and 103 iBT based) or IELTS is less than 7 will be required to take the English Placement Test upon arrival. Students may be required to enroll in certain English courses based on outcome of the test.
