Name:_________________ Hour:_________________ Flowers for Algernon Final Project Directions: Choose one of the projects below to complete over “Flowers for Algernon.” 1. Interpersonal: working in a group of no more than three, choose a progress report or two to videotape. You must convert these progress reports into a script format, though you do not have to be “off book” when you present. You may not simply get up in front of the camera and read the lines-have actions and interactions with each other. I am available after school with advanced notice to allow you time to videotape and work together. 2. Intrapersonal: There are large gaps in time in Charlie’s progress reports. Write 7 “fill in the gap” progress reports: two from the time before Charlie becomes intelligent, three during the peak of Charlie’s intelligence, and two while Charlie is declining in intelligence (the last one could even take place following the last entry of the text book). Be consistent with voice, grammar, spelling, etc for the Charlie you are writing about. 3. Music-Rhythmic: Using youtube.com’s “playlist builder” option, create a 12-15 song “soundtrack” for the story. You must include the title, artist, and a 2-3 sentence PER SONG explanation of why you think the song fits on the soundtrack. 4. Visual/Spacial: Create a 3-4 minute “digital story” of Charlie’s experience. This would be a windows movie maker or similar technology project, using photographs, spoken dialogue and background music/sound effects. Please see me for examples for digital stories. 5. Verbal-Linguist: Rewrite a song to be told from Charlie’s prospective. Sing your new parody in an MP3 (you can record this with a computer’s camera technology). Then use Audacity or a similar program to polish this MP3 file. Don’t worry-I’ll be the only person listening and I won’t judge your singing . Keep in mind these will require some work outside of class.
