Your feedback to Us
Monash is committed to excellence in education and regularly seeks feedback from students, employers
and staff. One of the key formal ways students have to provide feedback is through the Student
Evaluation of Teaching and Units (SETU) survey. The University’s student evaluation policy requires that
every unit is evaluated each year. Students are strongly encouraged to complete the surveys. The
feedback is anonymous and provides the Faculty with evidence of aspects that students are satisfied
and areas for improvement.
For more information on Monash’s educational strategy, see:
www.monash.edu.au/about/monash-directions/ and on student evaluations, see:

Previous Student Evaluations of this Unit
This is the first time the subject has been run for 3 years so comments from previous years are generally
out dated. Since the last offering of this subject though the following changes have been made:
(A) Seminar format using Enquiry-based learning in a Flipped Classroom format. This means that
students are required to view the preclass material on Moodle where the thory is presented and do the
reading of the text book before class. The Seminar will then be conducted using enquiry-based
learning starts by posing questions, problems or scenarios—rather than simply presenting established
facts or portraying a smooth path to knowledge. The process is often assisted by a the lecturer as a
facilitator. Inquirers will identify and research issues and questions to develop their knowledge or
solutions.
