THE UNIVERSITY OF DANANG WELCOMED THE GOVERNMENT
DELEGATION AND THE BUDAPEST UNIVERSTITY OF
TECHNOLOGY AND ECONOMICS FROM HUNGARY
In the afternoon of January, 10th 2013, The University of Danang (UD)
welcomed the government delegation and the Budapest University of Technology
and Economics (BME) from Hungary, led by Dr. Aszódi Attila, Vice Rector of
BME, and Director of BME institute of Nuclear Engineering. Attending in the
meeting, there were Assoc. Prof. Tran Van Nam- President of UD, Assoc. Prof.
Doan Quang Vinh – Vice President of UD, M.A Tran Huu Phuc - Director of
Administration Department, Dr. Le Thi Kim Oanh – Vice Rector of University of
Science and Technology, Dr. Hoang Hai - Director of International Cooperation
Department and other relevant officers.
In the meeting, Assoc. Prof. Tran Van Nam briefly introduced about
framework of organization as well as training programs of all member universities
of the University of Danang. Especially, President Tran Van Nam also presented
research cooperation programs that have been conducted between UD and other
European universities such as UK universities, French universities…UD’s
President also expressed his desire to promote the cooperation with different
universities in Hungary in general and BME in particular in the field of atomic
energy. At present, UD has not had training programs relating to atomic energy yet,

but there are some majors relating to atomic energy such as physics, chemistry.
..Therefore, President Tran Van Nam hopes to widen the cooperation with BME in
the fields of atomic energy in particular and other majors in general.
The Budapest University of Technology and Economics is the biggest
university of Hungary specializing in training technology. The number of students
of BME is 2400 and the number of lecturers is 1200. The training system of BME
includes 3 years for undergraduate level, 2 years for postgraduate level and 2-3
years (depending on different majors) for doctoral level. Dr. Aszódi Attila would
like to cooperate with UD in the fields of economics, technology and especially
atomic energy. Dr. Aszódi Attila also shared proudly that in order to guarantee the
study and research of students of Atomic Energy Department, BME has built a
nuclear reactor to serve for teaching.
In addition, BME also has a close relationship with Paks Nuclear Power
Plant, therefore, opportunities for students to do research and practice at BME is
promoted remarkably. Especially, Dr. Aszódi Attila also emphasized that BME is
willing not only to cooperate and support Vietnamese students in their study and
research at BME but also receive UD’s lecturers, doctoral students to come to do
research, or for training in short-term or long-term courses.
Assoc. Prof. Tran Van Nam acknowledged teaching and research proposals
by Mr. Aszódi Attila and expressed his willingness to cooperate with BME.
After the meeting, two sides signed the MOU and hoped the cooperative
activities between the two universities will soon be deployed as well as have good
results in the future.

After the meeting at UD, the Hungarian government delegation and BME
continued to work with the University of Science and Technology (DUT). At the
meeting, Dr. Le Kim Hung, Rector of the University of Science and Technology
expressed his sincere thanks to BME and the Paks Nuclear Power Plant that have
created conditions for the two groups of DUT’s administrative and teaching staff to
have short-term training in Hungary. In addition, representatives of the two sides
briefly introduced about each university and discussed the possibility of
cooperation between the two universities. Especially, Assoc. Prof. Le Kim Hung
also stressed that DUT offers two advanced training programs taught entirely in
English (Embedded system and Digital system programs). Therefore, DUT will
build up the training program in atomic energy following up the model of the
advanced programs. The two sides also discussed about receiving UD’s students
and teaching staff for the third time training in Hungary. Both universities also
expressed their effort to expand intensive cooperation not only in the field of
atomic energy but also other majors such as economics, technology
At the end of the meeting, Dr. Aszódi Attila expressed his thanks to UD and
DUT for the warm welcome and hopes that cooperative programs in training and
scientific research between the two universities will develop steadily.
