PROCEDURE FOR INDUSTRIAL ATTACHMENT
1.0 PURPOSE
To provide the steps followed for industrial attachment at the UoE.
2.0 SCOPE
This procedure details the steps taken as from when an application letter for attachment is
received by the Registrar, Administration up to when the attachee is released upon
completion of the attachment period.

ABBREVIATIONS/ DEFINITIONS
Attachee –A person who trains by working in an organization to gain job/industrial
experience.
Attachment –The act of working in an organization to gain Job/industrial experience.
5.0 PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITY
The Registrar (Administration) shall be responsible for the implementation and effective
supervision of this procedure
6.0 METHOD
6.1. The student shall apply for attachment to the University in writing. Attachments to
the application letter shall include; introduction letter and proof of insurance cover
6.2 The Registrar (Administration) shall consult with attachment units to establish
existence of a vacancy
6.3 The Registrar (Administration) shall issue a letter of offer if the application is
approved.
6.4 The attachée shall report to the respective Attachment Unit and be assigned a
supervisor
6.6. The Attachment Unit shall issue attachée with a letter of recommendation at the
completion of the attachment
