Introduction
This book is a directory of the areas
of excellent practice that have
been identified from within
Challenge Partners.
You can purchase school improvement
activities from other schools through this
directory. The Partnership has agreed rates
for services offered to ensure an
equitable market.
Schools with a subject or area specialism
have put forward individuals or departments.
Many of them carry accreditation, either
through Challenge Partners or from Ofsted
and the National College for Teaching and
Leadership.
We recognise that the knowledge held by
individuals and schools identified in this book
has been garnered through hard-earned
practice over a long period of time. It
should therefore be treated with appropriate
respect. Intellectual property must be
honoured and protected. It remains the
property of the provider and should only be
used with permission and may need to be
charged for or a charge may be requested.
If you wish to employ the services of the

individuals or departments named within this
book, contact should initially be made with
the school, not the individual. All bookings
are to go through the head teacher, whose
contact details can be found at the back of
this directory. An entry in this directory does
not guarantee that the school will be able to
provide the services you require, but it shows
those schools which have both the expertise
and willingness to engage with other schools
in the Partnership. Therefore please show
understanding and respect if the school
does not have the capacity to assist you.
The Challenge Partners agreed rates for
services procured through this directory are
£450 per day for head teachers and £350
per day for other members of staff.

Challenge Partners
Challenge Partners is a
collaborative research-focused
group of schools at various points
in a journey towards excellence.
This voluntary association was
designed to draw together the
best leadership and knowledge
available and systematically use
successful methodologies to
significantly impact on the quality
of young people’s education.
The success of Challenge Partners is judged
against our aims, which are to:
•Improve pupils’ examination results
at a rate above the national average
•Enable all schools to improve at
a rate above the national average
•Create more outstanding schools
that reach the Teaching Schools
criteria with national leaders in
school-to-school work
•Develop a world class, self improving
and sustainable system that
contributes to national research
and policy making.
Our practice derives from, and builds upon,
research and best practice to emerge
from Ofsted and the National College
for Teaching and Leadership; and our
decision making structures draw on those
embraced by groups such as the John
Lewis Partnership. Challenge Partners is built
around a network of hubs, complemented
by centrally run activities.

two strategic areas:

which improves performance through
effective learning partnerships and
rigourous quality performance
processes.
•Engine of improvement; using the
strength of the Partnership to help
schools in need, turning struggling
schools around. This builds on the
success of the London Challenge.
Challenge Partners desires to be a worldclass community that others would wish
to join and will serve as a benchmark for
professionalism, underpinned by an ethos of
open accountability and quality assurance
systems. We aim to provide a vehicle for
schools that wish to retain their individuality
yet learn from the best of their peers and
have an educational and political voice
nationally and internationally.
