The study results showed significant differences in the development of the stress coping resources, stress monitoring, and tension control between nursing students who experienced a modified curriculum component and nursing students who used selfdirected interventions or no interventions. Univariate analysis of variance showed significant differences at the .05 level in the mean gain scores for stress monitoring between the modified curriculum group and control group and for tension control between the modified curriculum group and the self-directed and control groups. Nursing literature confirms that stress in nursing is innate and a constant theme for registered and student nurses. Strategies to affect the perceptions and behaviors of students for the creative handling of stress are indicated. 1984 1982 ~ The “first” nursing faculty recipient of a “Faculty Research Grant” at West Georgia College An Investigation of Teaching Methods for Psychomotor Skills in Associate Degree Programs” ~ Group Research with the Atlanta Cardiology Forum of Nurses: Effect of in Hospital Cardiac Education on Post-Hospital Behavior Changes of Patients Admitted for Cardiac Problems” ~ Research Project in MSN program: “Complications Related to Activity Post-Myocardial Infarction” Page 6 of 6
