Programme Structure
The entire BCom (Accounting)/ BCom (Accounting and Accounting Technologies) programme consists of 24 units (600 credits) but in Hong Kong only 14
units are offered.
For both programmes, students with higher diplomas/ advanced diplomas/ associate degrees in relevant disciplines usually receive 10 to 12 units’
exemption. Students can complete the non-exempted units by taking other Curtin units where applicable, or by taking the equivalent units recognised by
Curtin University. The number of exemptions granted is determined by Curtin University on an individual basis.
The academic year is divided into 4 semesters, each requiring study of 1 to 4 units.
Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting)
Holders of higher diploma or associate degree in accounting and related disciplines awarded within the HKU system through HKU SPACE will be granted
exemption of 12 units (300 credits). Graduates with equivalent qualifications awarded by other institutes may also receive up to 12 units’ exemption (300

Each unit has 36 teaching hours per semester. Some units like Business
and Company Law and Taxation Planning are fully conducted by local
lecturers. Selected units will comprise lectures conducted by lecturers of
