Grade 7 – Sunday, March 21, 2010 Dear Parents, Yesterday we began with a review of the Passover story. I focused on remembrance and memory. I then tied this to Yom HaShoah V’haG’vurah (Holocaust and Martyrs’ Observance Day). The 7th grade students are involved in this service through their creative writings and/or drawings that are included in a booklet used during the service. Students worked on expressing their thoughts and feelings about and/or their reactions to the Holocaust in writing/drawing. If your child was absent and wishes to provide written or drawn material, he/she should complete that and turn it in (by email or drop it off at the Temple) to Mrs. Pressman NO LATER than Monday, April 5. I have recently received fro our Temple librarians a list of books (in our Temple Library) about the Holocaust involving children of comparable age to 7th grade. I have attached it ( please see below) in case your child might be interested in reading and learning more about this event through the eyes of a peer. Reminder of upcoming important dates: · 3/28 through 4/7 – no Sunday and no Hebrew classes · 4/11 – Sunday evening from 6 – 8 PM is our Yom HaShoah V’haG’vurah service. This service will be our 4/11 class for all 7th grade students. May you have a wonderful Pesach!
