Public Relations Tells the Discover Lancaster Story Our communications staff constantly partners with our members to garner free publicity for Lancaster tourism in media outlets around the region, the country, and the globe. As a result of these collaborative PR efforts, Discover Lancaster and its members obtained coverage in 88 stories during the month of March, reaching nearly 175 million people and worth $660,000 in ad value. (The "ad value" of a story is the amount it would cost to run an advertisement of equal size in the same media outlet.) Also in March, we interacted with 27 separate media outlets – 17 via pro-active pitch and 10 via re-active response. In addition, we garnered AP Newswire coverage of our annual Mud Sales season, resulting in numerous placements, including a number of major-market and national print & online outlets.
