IS 100.b: Introduction to Incident Command System (3 hour course)

ICS 100, Introduction to the Incident Command System, introduces the Incident Command
System (ICS) and provides the foundation for higher level ICS training. This course describes
the history, features and principles, and organizational structure of the Incident Command
System. It also explains the relationship between ICS and the National Incident Management
System (NIMS).
IS 200.b: ICS for Single Resources and Initial Action Incidents (3 hour course)

ICS 200 is designed to enable personnel to operate efficiently during an incident or event within
the Incident Command System (ICS). ICS-200 provides training on and resources for personnel
who are likely to assume a supervisory position within the ICS.

This course introduces and overviews the National Incident Management System (NIMS).
NIMS provides a consistent nationwide template to enable all government, private-sector, and
nongovernmental organizations to work together during domestic incidents.

The course introduces participants to the concepts and principles of the National Response
Framework.
IS 701.a: NIMS Multi-Agency Coordination Systems (MACS) (2 hour course)

This course introduces Multiagency Coordination (MAC) Systems as described in the National
Incident Management System (NIMS), and shows how these systems can be used to improve
incident response. MAC Systems consist of a combination of elements: personnel,
procedures, protocols, business practices, and communications integrated into a common
system.

The National Incident Management System (NIMS) provides a consistent nationwide template
to enable all government, private-sector, and nongovernmental organizations to work together
during domestic incidents. This includes public information systems, as described in NIMS are
designed to effectively manage public information at an incident, regardless of the size and
complexity of the situation or the number of entities involved in the response.

IS 703.a: NIMS Resource Management (3.5 hour course) *

This course introduces resource management as described in the National Incident
Management System (NIMS), and shows how systems for managing resources can be used
to improve incident response. The course includes examples of best practices, lessons
learned, and job aids to assist the participant in planning for resource management.
IS 706 NIMS Intrastate Mutual Aid – An Introduction (2 hour course) *

This course provides an introduction to NIMS intrastate mutual aid and assistance. You will
learn about the purpose and benefits of mutual aid and assistance. You will also learn about
the emphasis that NIMS places on mutual aid and assistance. The course explains how to
develop mutual aid and assistance agreements and mutual aid operational plans.
NOTE:
 IS-702 is required for ESF 14, Municipal Representatives, any anyone else with PIO responsibilities
or may be speaking with the media.
 IS-703 is required for the Logistics Section (ESF 15 and EOC Support Unit are exempted), Municipal
Representatives, and anyone else with Resource responsibilities.
 IS-706 is required for ESF 15, Liaison Unit, Municipal Representatives, and anyone else who might
be dealing with Mutual Aid agreements.
 IS-704 has been temporarily removed from the FEMA website, as it is not current with the National
Preparedness System. FEMA is in the process of updating it; therefore, it will not be required for the
2014/2015 season.
