**NOTE – MAY 9 AUDITIONS HAVE BEEN MOVED TO MAY 16TH** Auditions are open to any collegiate students living in Middle TN as well as recent college alumni. Alumni who have completed their undergraduate degrees no more than six years ago are welcome to audition. Proof of current or prior enrollment may be requested if you are selected. th
There will be live auditions on May 16 at Ensworth High School (7401 Hwy 100 Nashville, TN 37221) from 9am-‐1pm. Please email nco@eliassalazar.com with the time window you wish to come, and you will receive parking instructions. Auditions will be comprised of sight-‐reading, scales, and two prepared excerpts or a solo (see below for suggested excerpts or solos). For string players, these auditions will be chair placement auditions. For winds, this audition will serve to set up who plays on which pieces. String, harp, keyboard, and percussion players do not need to audition to participate for this season, but we require that interested musicians come play at the live auditions on May 16th for seating. Alternatively, you may submit a video audition by midnight May 17th. VIDEO SUBMISSIONS The audition may be submitted through videos created by the candidates for those who cannot attend. The audition video must be unaltered and unspliced. These may be submitted for review using YouTube (recommended) or emailed directly as .MP4 or .MOV files. If you use YouTube, make your video “unlisted” so that you can share the link with just us. Please email the file or link to the video to nco@eliassalazar.com by Sunday, May 17th at midnight. Entries submitted after this date may be placed on a waiting list for future openings. Choose at least TWO orchestral excerpts from the list below or of your choosing to perform in the video unaccompanied, and please do not announce excerpts or otherwise talk on your audition recording. Applicants may also choose to play one of the listed solos instead of or in addition to the excerpts. In your audition email, provide your name, instrument, phone number, university, and whether you are an undergraduate, graduate, or alum. Principal positions for the string sections will be auditioned on May 9th and the 16th (including Concertmaster). If you are interested in a principal string position, please indicate so when emailing us to set up your audition. *Suggested Repertoire on the next page* Suggested Wind Solos and Excerpts FLUTE Solo: MOZART Concerto in G, K. 313 -‐Mvt. 1 – Exposition Excerpts: BACH: "Aus Lieberman will mein Heiland sterben" from St. Matthew Passion BEETHOVEN: Leonore Overture no.3 -‐mm. 328-‐360 (fast solo)) MENDELSSOHN: Scherzo from A Midsummer Night’s Dream -‐12 mm. before letter P through the end STRAUSS: Dance of the Seven Veils from Salome -‐letter D through 4 mm. after letter H DEBUSSY: Prelude to the afternoon of a faun -‐opening 4 mm. **ROSSINI: Semiramide Overture (Piccolo) -‐5 mm. after letter G through 1 mm. after letter H ** Optional auxiliary instrument excerpt.
