TERM-TIME COURSES IN FINE
ART AND APPLIED ART
Our future secured
From the Principal, Isabel H Langtry
I am delighted to be launching the Autumn Term in our wonderful
new building, Kidderpore Hall. This temporary arrangement has
been made possible by our partnership with King’s College London
and Barratt Homes. Our new purpose-built, permanent home,
designed by architects Allies and Morrison, will be ready in 2016.
Hampstead School of Art’s new home, Kidderpore Hall
At HSoA, tutors work alongside developing artists in an environment
unique within the art and education worlds. Our Artist in Residence
Programme enriches our students and demonstrates the diversity
and place of the practising artist in today’s world. We have a proud
history. The school was founded in the 1950s under the direction
of local artists Jeannette Jackson and Bernard Gay, with the support
and patronage of sculptor Henry Moore. It has since provided a
centre of artistic excellence, offering tuition in a wide range of skills
by practising artists.
Non-selective in its weekly programmes which are offered to
the whole community, HSoA is a pioneer of widening participation,
with an ethos of providing opportunities to all. We are very lucky
to be located in a historic and beautiful part of London, close to
Hampstead Heath. We continue to add to the vibrant cultural history
of the area, following in the footsteps of Constable and Freud, and
the school’s outreach work is an integral part of its DNA. Join us and
unleash the artist within you.
If you already attend a class,
spread the word and introduce
your friends to the new HSoA
website.

REF:THU1830CARLIS
Caroline’s current paintings are
hinged within the tradition of
sublime landscape painting.
The paintings explore the
phenomenological sublime,
natural phenomena or natural
disasters, with man-made
interventions creating portals,
mixed with beauty and terror
within the same frame. The
painting process evolves
through material coagulations
of oil paint, which is poured
and blown onto the surface.
Caroline List studied Fine Art
painting at Chelsea College of
Art and Design and exhibits
internationally. She currently
lives and works in London and
teaches Mixed Media painting
at Central Saint Martins.
REF:WED1830ROSNGU
Rosa Nguyen explores natural
elements and organic forms
with a fusion of Western and
Oriental sensibilities. Her works,
ranging from unique objects
to site-specific installations, are
delicate and richly textured,
innovative and timeless. Her
handmade ceramic and glass
objects synthesize colour, line,
form and function in an exotic
visual and tactile language.
Inspired by discrete arts such
as gardening and ikebana,
the Japanese form of flower
arranging, Rosa’s work evokes
a contemplative aesthetic
and a deep-rooted spiritual
connection with nature.
