Welcome Message
from the Board of Trustees
Dear Parents,
Sheikh Abid Hussain
Chairman Hamza Foundation
We are heartened by your decision to entrust to us the education of your child. We take this opportunity to extend to you our
warmest greetings.
Hamza Foundation Academy for the Deaf is the recognized leader of all the institutions dealing with education of hearing impaired
children. Alhamdolillah we have achieved considerable success in this specialized field and we hope to impart to your child the
benefits of our experience and the specialized skills that we have developed at our Academy.
Our endeavour will be not only to educate your child but to make him or her a useful contributing member of society by the time
he/she completes the education with us. However, we must make it clear, at the outset, that our efforts will need your active and
continuous support. For a hearing impaired child the learning process does not end with class hours. It has to continue at home
also.
Parent-teacher meetings and relationships are of pivotal significance. We will even otherwise be available to you whenever you
need to consult.
Let us jointly work for the welfare of your child and pray that Almighty Allah shall bless our efforts.
Yours Sincerely
(SHAHID HAMID)
Chairman Board of Trustees

General
Introduction
H
amza Foundation Academy for the Deaf is one of the many welfare
projects of Hamza Foundation which is a registered Welfare Trust
Organization.
The origin of Hamza Foundation dates back to 1954, when Late Mian
Muhammad Amin S/o Late Mian Muhammad Hayat established Sabira
Masjid in Shershah, Karachi, with a view to make it a center for imparting
basic Islamic teachings to the children of the destitute living in the area.
After his death on May 28, 1967, his successors decided to lay the
foundation of a social welfare institution in his memory. A body named
"AMIN HAYAT TRUST" was constituted with the ultimate objective of
developing it into a grand charitable organization.
Its name was changed in 1978 to HAMZA FOUNDATION and got it
registered as a Welfare Trust. The name "HAMZA” was picked up because
of the reverence in which Hazrat Amir Hamza, the uncle of the Holy Prophet
(Peace be upon him), was held.
Hamza Foundation (hereinafter referred to as the Foundation), an NGO
registered as a non-profitable guarantee limited company, is one of the
largest and Oldest charitable organization in the country. The Foundation
has no other business but to serve humanity, primarily in the fields of health
& education through its self-sponsored projects as well as by way of
providing support to needy individuals and other governmental and nongovernmental organizations. Irrespective of any caste, creed, religion,
race or language, the charitable activities of the foundation are spread over
the country.

A tailor made plan for speech and language development has been chalked out by
our professionals, keeping in mind the emerging age of sound, physical age of the
child, hearing thresholds and the respective frequency of a particular sound.
Besides, entire syllabus is developed in the form of work books. The language part
of the plan entails content, form and use of Urdu/English languages. The plan
gives the therapists and parents a guideline to follow and practice speech skills
with their clients and children.
Hamza Foundation Academy for the Deaf

that the students may be able to recognize
various sounds and consequently should be able

The speech and language therapy treatment as a principle relies heavily on
practice, repetition, modeling, acceptance, counseling and reinforcement.
Parental role in all of the above areas is crucial and we at our Academy ensure their
contribution through trainings, seminars and workshops on hourly meetings with
them etc. One way vision technology has been used to facilitate the parents to see
the proceedings as they happen during a session, without disturbing the child and

General Rules &
Regulations
Tests & Examination
The academic well being of the students is the primary focus of the
Academy. In order to ensure a better management, the Academy classes
have been grouped into Junior, Middle and Senior section. As a part of
Hamza Foundation Academy for the Deaf
Government policy students appear in all the board exams starting from
primary and ending upon University exam in graduation.
In house testing is conducted on regular basis through scheduled and
unscheduled tests. Monthly tests are one type of scheduled tests which
cover the syllabus covered during a month, and facilitate students for the
upcoming semester exams conducted thrice a year. In all, students have to
appear in three semester exams while they are in junior and middle section.
Semester system ensures a wider range of content in a unit time and is
being successfully practiced within the campus. The entire syllabic content
is divided into three equal parts, and respective semester exam relate to
one particular part of syllabus. However in the final semester, selected
content is added from the first two semesters to relate to the previous
learning.
The academy is affiliated with Directorate of Special Education which
conduct class 5th and 8th exam. For Matriculation the registration is with
Lahore Board of secondary & Intermediate Education where the Exams of
9th and 10th are conducted. TEVTA (Technical Education Vocational Training
Authority) conduct Post Matric Diploma exam for our students which is
equivalent to F.A. The Academy is affiliated with University of Punjab for
Graduation Examsas well as the two professional one year diplomas.
As a part of the Government policy students appear in the board exams
starting from primary, and extending up to university exams in graduation.
For the senior section however, students are evaluated for their academic
achievements on term basis. Mid and final term exams are conducted
within a year so as to keep pace with the requirements of the board exams.
The syllabic content is divided in two equal parts. The midterm exams cover
the first half, while in the final term the second half is reinforced with
selections from the first term. Again, monthly tests are used as a tool to
ensure precipitating learning in the students.
10
Expulsion Policy
The academic and moral well being of students within the academy is
ensured by a strict evaluation and observational policy. In case of a
misconduct, decline in academic achievements and other related issues;
explanations are called. Formal and verbal written warnings are issued and
the child is kept under constant observation to decrease the
Likelihood of a similar incidence in future:
We discourage expulsion policy and confide in our teaching and learning
process; yet it may be used if & when required.
Incase it is related to academics, failing in any 2 compulsory subjects in the
Final Exams after verbal and written warnings (after mid term results and
semesters) would lead to expulsion of student from the Academy.
