course.
The package is composed of two elements:
 The Language of Composition
 Florida Literature Case Study – custom literature book on Florida Literature
To access these materials, you will need to log on to the Florida ELA Review Website at:

The elements of the package are accessed in two different ways. The Language of Composition will be
accessed via its xBook, which is available online, while The Florida Literature Case Study is primarily a print
book, so we have provided you with a manuscript of the text. All materials are password protected.
All passwords will be provided by the Florida State Department of Education.

Once inside a course, you can browse the x-book content by clicking on the x-book tab.

While viewing content, you can select text and add notes to guide your students’ reading.
From the x-book tab, you can add content, hide content, and create assignments from the options in the gear

When adding content, you can either compose a page within the x-book or you can upload a file into a
document collection.

To assign content, select “assign” from the gear menu. Select the checkboxes next to each section of the
book or activity you want to include in your assignment. Title the assignment, select a due date, and add
instructions for your students. Click “done” to save your assignment. Note that you can edit it from the
assignment center.

The assignment center collects your assignments and summarizes your students’ progress.
 A filled in circle means your students have completed the assignment.
 A half-filled circle means your students have started, but not completed, the assignment.
 An empty circle means your students have not started the assignment yet.
Click on the “details” for any assignment to view individual students’ activity.
When you are ready to have your students join your x-book course, click to activate it. Fill in the fields for
your school, the academic term, your name, your course title, and other particulars. Click the submit button.

Purchase of Common Threads includes access to the Common Threads Book Companion Site. You can log
