Take a look to see if you have lost any guns lately. No kidding. Christmas presents are nice but when members leave guns at the range and don’t come back for them we can’t take them home. Over the last three months, three rifles have been left at the club and they are still here. According to the law, we can’t keep them indefinitely. And if they are not claimed we have to turn them over to the sheriff’s department. Call the club office,
541-491-3755, if you think one of these rifles belong to you.
Each month we will be highlighting one of the shooting sports taking place at ARPC. This month it is ‘ICORE’ or International Confederation of
Revolver Enthusiasts. Matches are held each month on the 3rd Saturday at 9am on the North
Range, bays 6,7 & 11. ICORE is an action- oriented revolver competition shot at cardboard and steel targets. If you think this is a sport that you might want to try, give Mike Beach a call at
541-409-1767 or come out and watch a match. All shooting sports are open to beginners, adults, juniors, members, non-members and visitors.
The demand for Concealed Handgun Licenses has increased dramatically due to recent shooting incidents. Albany Rifle and
Pistol Club has responded with two Oregon and Utah Concealed classes on Saturday, January 2nd and Sunday January
31st. 8958 Please check the club calendar and call Mike at 541-
619-0038 for reservations.
RJ Barnes of Coastal Arms will be having his popular
"Build a Gun Class" on January 24th at the NRC from
10am to 2pm. You will start the class with a pile of parts and at the end will be firing the AR15 that you just built on the range! The class covers assembly, maintenance and troubleshooting of the AR platform.
Perfect for anyone who wants to be able to do more than just shoot their gun.
Prices start at only $675.00 for the Basic AR15 package and space is limited. Call RJ at 541-995-5296 today and reserve your spot. Deadline for signups is Jan
8th!
Here are a few New Year’s Resolutions to consider for
2016:
1. Get a good handgun, learn how to shoot it, get your Concealed Handgun License and start legally carrying concealed all of the time. The police won't always be there to protect you.
2. Support your local law enforcement agencies. They have a tough job and put their lives on the line to protect us during dangerous events. Let them know you support them.
3. Watch the National and Oregon legislative issues about gun control. Piece by piece they are restricting your firearm rights. You cannot let emotions guide legislators into taking your guns away. Become an activist and get involved.
The entire Pro Shop is open to members and non-members through the end of the year ONLY! That means nonmembers can purchase gun powder, bullets, primers and anything else in the Pro Shop. It is a great time to reload during the holidays. The Pro Shop currently has Bullseye,
Titegroup, Clays and a host of other powders that have not been available for the last 18 months. 18382 This is one of the best gun powder selections available anywhere in
Oregon. Now on sale 800x, IMR 4227, Winchester 296 and
Hodgdon 380. Give the Pro Shop a call at 541-491-3755 if you are looking for a last minute gift.
The Red Coats are Coming! The Red Coats are
Coming! It is time to protect Fort Saddle Butte with your black powder rifle. ARPC is holding a
‘Red Coat’ black powder shoot on Sunday,
January 3, 2016, starting at 9am in bay 12 on the
East Range. This shoot will feature random teams of two shooting through gun ports at ‘Red Coat’ targets. You and your partner must engage four
‘Red Coat’ targets in varying distances from 15 to
50 yards within the time limit. The fire pit will be going and the tall tales will be flowing. All members, non-members and visitors are welcome to participate or watch. Contact Ed Eriksen at 541-926-7570 for further information.
On Saturday, January 30,2016 from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm the club will be hosting a
Single Stage Rifle and Pistol Reloading class. There are four reasons to load your own ammunition...and they are: save money, improve accuracy, they don't make it anymore or maybe they never did and for a hobby. All aspects of making "Custom Ammunition" will be covered with an emphasis on rifle accuracy. If you want to learn how to find that perfect load for that rifle that should be shooting better than it is, maybe this is a class for you. If you're tired of paying $50 to $100 for a box of premium ammunition or you just want to research the possibility of making your own "Custom Ammunition", then this is the class for you. The cost is $25.00 for members and family of members and $35 for non-members. Please e-mail Steve Shippey at srshipster@gmail.com
or call me at
503.851.3158 to reserve a seat in the class.
There are specific days and times for full auto (all calibers) shooting on

•
Second and fifth Sundays and the first, third and fourth
Saturdays of each month between 10am and 4pm.
•

ARPC and stay within the allowed times.
Albany Rifle and Pistol Club has been hard at work setting up several new junior 4-H shooting sports programs. The newsletter will keep you informed when they start up. Black powder muzzle loading is one of those junior sports and we are in need of at least two 50 caliber muzzle loading rifles. 7373 If you have one stuck away in the closet and would like to donate it to this junior program that would be fantastic. These rifles would be part of the junior program firearms /equipment and used by youths shooting in the black powder discipline. Remember that we are a 501(c)(4) so unfortunately your donations are not tax deductible.
Please call the club office at 541-491-3755 if you have any questions concerning donations for juniors.
